The past year i've talked with a lot somali folk, and I noticed all the young people that are doing post secondary education, seem to be concentrated in the field of computer science. I am a collage student, doing a major in neuro science. I just want to know, why isn't there a balance of academia. Is it, because of money? Or an assumption of lack in intellect in other fields. |

Anonymous........most of the young somaliis i've seen r also majorin' in computer science....i wanted to do the same thing but not anymore...!!
Computer science graduates make lots of money...and it is not an ez major so it has nothin' to do with the level of intellect....!!
The thing is when somaliis go back to Somalia.....we're gonna have looooooots of computer scientists....but very few computers...lol...!!

I myself did computer science, and yes it is 'cause of the money. as you might know somalis
they always try to copy each other, once all the gratuates were accounting and business and the engineering and now it is the computers.
But i tell you one thing, what ever you major is
just finish your education. i live in northern california, and their is this company, called
CALTRAIN you can not imagine how many somali engineers work there, so we do have a lot engineers too |

lol, i so agree with that,it seems all our brothers are doing something in the computer field. im not saying that this field is lower than for example engineering or medicine, but cmon ppl, if we wanna build our country we need a wide variety of professionals.
i gotta admit i myslef was thinking of going into the computer field but then when i thought of how i could be more helpful to my ppl, i changed to medical science and will inshallah go on to medicine (wish me luck ppl and lets hope i get there). its my first year and so far so good, i advise u high school students to look into this field, especially my sisters. |
