Somalia has no future. Very simple, its has disintegrated, and the root cause is because we failed as a society to live in civility. We let a dictator manipulate us and we are reaping the rewards of being supportive of the regime. Today Somalia is at the cross roads. We in southern Somalia are plagued by misunderstandings and mistrust. We are in dire need to reconcile, and learn to live in peace. Unfortunately that is not the case. I pray that we shal overcome, but in the near future that doesn't seem likely. Up north, we have Somali brothers and sisters who have abandoned us. They are not willing to co-operate and save gaurd our nation. They have chosen to cut their losses and abandon ship. I think this is very selfish, and very hostile. They need to repent, but as the recent demonstration of burning the national flag tells us, they do not want anything to do with us. Furthermore, it is complicated even further, for we have no clue where the border is, it is a very sensative issue, its like a tug of war, and it seems like there is no winner. So what then, somalia is in this condition: North -Seperates..South- Disorganized, and the possibility of war like ereteria and Ethiopia over the bounderies. WE ARE DOOMED!

The game ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. Somalis are a resourceful and intelligent people. Obviously there are problems with their historical social structures, but these can be turned into strengths. Inshallah Somalia will rejoin the community of nations in out lifetimes.

Look who is giving a lecture on history,,, ever tried to figure out why Africa is soo messed up ?

300 years of slavery followed by the subsequent Colonisation by the Europeans who looted and raped the continent in their "civilizing Mission".

The white Man who thinks he has a God given right to save the World went to Africa and took it upon himself to make up the current boundaries which have been a source of all the conflicts in Africa.

Somalia a country that is culturally and religiously homogenous, was divided into three states and two separate regions.

In Rwanda and Burundi the story is the same, the Hutu and Tutsi who have had a long history of conflict were divided into three regions making the Hutu a minority in all of them.

West Africa, lets not even go there !

Africa has been,,,used, and abused ever since it was an infant,,therefore its no wonder that there is chaos in almost every corner of the motherland.
when you grow up in a violent environment and all you have seen is violence, you become accustomed to it.

Mad Mac: you need help thats for sure,,you have sunk to a new low,,you are now making up topics and answering yourself,,,how pathetic is that.

Keeping the ball rolling Sam. Things have been really slow on the net. And can you spare us the Africa is a victim story. Enough already!! I love the slave part - esspecially given the Somalis hostrical role as slave traders!!! Anyway, used and abused or not, in this world that and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee.
So back on to the productive side of the house, what are we going to do to straighten out this mess? All I keep getting from you is insults and lamenting. Get over it already and lets start planning for the future. Somalia is being left behind and we need to start doing something about it.

You are part of the problem !!! you may be paying 5o cents for that cup of coffee but the guy who works in the coffee plantation gets less than that a month, courtesy of western hypocracy which surport child labour and slavery.

The west makes up 22 percent of the World population but consumes 80 percent of the worlds resources. This materialist and resource intensive lifestyle can only be maintained by getting and maintaining access to cheap resources.

That is the reason why uncle sam is in everyones backyard, to maintain and protect "American interest". There is a direct correlation between the prosperity of the west and the poverty of the rest.

Rice fields, and grain farms are being turned into plantations to grow coffee and fruits for the west, courtesy of World Bank and I.M.F.
People are starving because of these neocolonial policies, and you are bragging about how much you pay for your coffee. Ever thought why its soo cheap,,, dont bother to answer, I know they told you it comes from grandma's backyard.

Whoa, dude. You are equating me with "the west." Where do you live? I'd venture to say it's in "the west." And while your at it, the west does consume more resources, it also produces most of the worlds food and most of the worlds products. When there's a famine somewhere is anybody calling on India to provide relief supplies? No, they call the US of A. Just a point. Beyond that, we could debate this until we're blue in the face, but that isn't going to help Somalia even a little bit. Do you think the IMF or the US government consult me prior to making policy? I am no more part of "the West" than you are. I tell you what, I'm going to go back to Somalia and start my projects there. You become a US citizen and work as an activist there, since you're so interested in US foreign policy and economics. God knows you're more interested in it than I am. Actually I am usually critical of US foreign policy but not for the same reasons or rationals that you are. And you know what, I'll support your efforts in the US 100%. I would advise you stop looking at things in such a black and white manner though. The world is anarchic and there's seldom a clean cut good guy - bad guy scenerio. It's almost always more complex than that.
