The more they marry from different tribes the better the chance that tribes would get along because they will be family.

Brother I do respect you opinion obout this but let me give you suggestion.
A lot of us today live other countries and tribe is no longer important to us then it was before.
Since some of us also influence by non-somalis, they see somali people as brothers and sisters; they don't care who one belong. When they see eachother, they remind eachother as they are living in somalia. But I don't think anyone has a clear idea if people who married thier own tribe were succesful than those who don't. We should talk about samething else like the good thing happening in Minasota SPORT. |

It is generally known and undeniable to all of us, the bad consequences and distructions of the somali civil war towards our societies. it really traumatized the well-being of all social spheres.
But still, because of our unity is greater than our difference and also the fact that we belong to one homogenous ethnic society makes devaluation to your believe of preferring clan-based marriages than one based on individual selection and compatibility.
Every man or woman has the right and is determined to look and search for his/her soul-mate regardless of his/her clan. that is what natural selection is based upon.
Brother, we had a political and clan based civil war, but not CALTURAL ONE. so don't be confuse urself by generalizing.
The truth is every somali person has somehow directly or indirectly related to another one. and if u look ur family-tree all ur grand-grand fathers married diverse moms from all somali clans who contrabuted to you half of ur inherited genes say "23 chromosomes".
so . Im 100% sure that u have genes in ur DNA from another clan, who u consider big ENEMY to you or to ur clan.

I'm half Issaaq/Darood so I luv all Somali's. Somedays i'm happy that i'm mixed but others I feel very confused. I have 1 side cursing my other side[ie. Issaaq cursing Darood] then I have my other side cursing the other. My family try not 2 let me sense this but it is all 2 evident. Lets kill the tribalism and start showing luv, I think we've had enough of tribalism 4 more than a life time, wouldn't u agree?

Here we go again..going through the same thing. I was young when the war happend in Somali. and i didn't really understand the whole concept of it. People where fighting, and proving to each other who's better than who. And poor people died because of their poor jugdgement. But that just the way it is. ANd if the girl didn't marry you because of you tribe...it's her lost, and your too for talking about small minded person. In my family we have every QABIIL in Somali and we seem to get along just fine because we are Family.
Hopefully we'll all come together and be one big family. The world is big enough and wonderfull enough for all of us. HERE IS LITTLE SUMTHIN'

Romeo (Renamed Abdi) is •••••• from the Mudug. 14 Years old, brain addled from chewing too much Khat, beat up AK-47 in hand, he's rousting Darood out of Mog in early 91. Stealing, raping, the usual. Then he meets Juliet (Saida). She's Darood. He falls in love. His Moryan friends think he's crazy and rape and kill the chick. He revenges her and kills the Moryan "friends" and then kills himself. This could be a classic. I can't wait for the movie version to come out. |

Is it worse to marry a different clan or a different ethnic altogether??.. Somali's will ONLY unite if an outside force attacks them,, then they'll be shouting "ALL SOMALI"S ARE BROTHERS", What we can do as indiviuals is to have an open mind and not to listen to our parents who are mostly racists against one tribe or another. |
