Let’s re-colonize Somalia just for as long as to allow people to learn something about democracy and see how life is in a law-abiding environment. I don’t believe this Djibouti conference will work, it is another big waist of time. Somali need to be controlled by an external force till they are ready to self-governing themselves. I feel sorry for my brothers and sisters which where small children in 1991 and have seen nothing else in their adult life than violence, the sad thing is that they don’t even know difference?

We may not remember but this tribal warfare is not new in Somalia, our country is back as it was 150 years ago. Unfortunately in this competitive world countries are uniting and company merging to succeed we lack behind. I think only Afghanistan is sadder than Somalia.
At this speed we are not going anywhere, and our country don’t have enough resources to attract another Restore Hope, yes, not even this elusive Oil.
Let’s re-colonize Somalia, who likes to take the job? I wonder……..
Peace

Damn!, you come up the best idea that someone could get...believe me omaros1 u are genius....
and i hope u understand the reason i said it..u
know it's not only somalia where civil war erupted
every,first let's say USA,ethiopia,yugoslavia,czes
laviakia, and many other countries around the world
and at the same time there they reconciliate thier
differeces except this animals(somalis),so i believe italians and british made a great mistake when they gave the independence when they
are not ready for getting the best of it.so why
don't the UN gave them dead line to build a nation....or they will be given italy and british to re-colonize them again.

The question is who have the courage to take this big responsibility of taking control of our country? Who like to die saving Somalia’s future? Maybe the UN? I doubt Italy or the UK will be ever willing to do such a think, there is nothing to gain.
Look at Sierra Leone they finally decided to intervene seriously, but the country has a huge Diamond and Gold reserve, so it is convenient in the long run.
Besides working in an environment where the international community is been maltreated is never a bonus for anyone to come back.
The only positive thing for Somalia is that we have enough space for our population to live very well with our own resources, look at the Palestinian and Israeli they are fighting for a very small peace of land which is 70% desert. We don’t even have different culture or religion or language or ethnic background.
Maybe a petition should be made and then send it to the UN if nothing will happen at least it will definitely get their attention.
Peace to Somalia

Salaam Omaros1,

Unfortunately bro the term "Reconciliation" means nothing if you are a Somalian these days.

it's a shame though I must say.

only when somalians change their attitudes towards each other and each and every one of the tribes recognise their mistakes and reconciles, only then shall we see any kind of somalian revival.
Let's pray to Allah that we see a Somalian revival sooner rather than later.
You brothers may say that I am a dreamer but then I am not the only one!

Application For recolonisation of our country Somalia
We here by as citizens of Somalia apply to the United Nations to recolonise our country. Here are the reasons why.
1) We have had too much freedom that it has become our worst enemy
2) Our survival is under threat not from the outside forces but from within namely qabiil.
3) We have too much land we know nothing to do with it.- it may be useful for the recolonisin country to resettle their population or even gain economic growth from the potential of the descovery of oil.
4) We as natural tax evaders, corrupt, murderers, and last but not least natural boot lickers do hereby by declare that we will offcourse fight anyone who tries the above but also hope that the Recolonising country will have enough force to reconcur us.
Signed
Citizens of Somalia

Way to go Citizen, but a petition requires a name not an anonymous nickname, for instance my name is Omar Osman and I am not hiding behind anything, so let’s put our names what are we afraid of.
I hope more people join this forums and let me know their point of view.

Are you guys nuts? Recolonize Somalia? Aside from the fact that no one wants to colonize Somalia, the Somalis don't need someone else to give them foreign systems. They need to develop their own. Somalis are as intelligent as anyone else - perhaps a bit too nihilistic at times, but given their history who wouldn't be. While the Djibouti conference seems to be going nowhere fast, it's an opportunity for everyone to talk things out and be heard. In the end, no one can solve Somalias problems but the Somalis themselves. InshaAllah this will happen in my lifetime.

Are your being over optimistic with somalis Mad Mac? You know very well that the evidence is strongly in favour of recolonisation of Somalia. I suggest you retract the statement that somalis need to develop their own as it would be a suicidical development of our own!

I enjoin my name on the petition

MADMAC, I have seen other forums with your point of view, which I appreciate and respect. But we have to be realistic I know Somalis, nobody want them to accept other people’s system, but they need an environment to develop their own. The environment must be peaceful, school must be available to all, and then people will be able to move on and create a government accepted by all.
Somalis will not be able to finalize anything between them, not in my life time or my children lifetime, they need outside guidance, is difficult to break 10 years of civil war. Beside the so-called potential leaders in Djibouti have years of hatred, 10 years of war and before that, years of communist or new socialism teaching. If you add all of this with a strong sense of tribalism you have the recipe of failure. Re-colonize is the only solution. Scrap the past let’s start fresh, and I am saying this because we are also unable to learn from our mistakes.
Peace

Sami, I never understand people like you that are unable to put a comment without a personal attack, I find it sad. If I remember well there was a Somali say that goes like this” If you can’t manage yourself let someone do it for you” I think 10 years of trying is enough don’t you think?
Forget the past, the problem of Somalia is the future; and don’t get me wrong when I say re-colonize I don’t mean a picture of the British Empire 100 years ago or the “occupied Palestinian Territories” but a protectorate like the Seychelles, I know the comparison is not even vaguely near but the idea is there.

……..and Sammie please read history,it is not the “white man” that divided us we always had feud but maybe they provided us with better weapons to kill each other. Somalia as a country never existed 100 years ago it was all divided in little territories which where constantly in war fighting each other on a clan and sometime sub-clan level.

what's up my man? how unwittingly uninteresting of an idea should someone (sadly A somali) suggest such still silly, however hypothetical, that a colonization be reinstated in any country at this day an age......let alone in SOMALIA...i can understand the severity of desperation on our people omar but your idea is far less sufficient for good deeds......just imagine the need for imprimatur for you to get a visa from the british consulate to visit your own country.....anyway, i hope you reconsider, revalue the mere significance of the freedoms Somalis have in somalia and the ones they lack......may be a light could spark or go all out...peace...

Unrecorded Date
From: Colonial Office at the UN. To: Amaros, Citizen, Patriot

We have tried to colonize Somalia several times, recently operation Restore Hope, so if you guys could gives us some tips on how to go about it we will really appreciate it.
Thanks.

" The last battle of colonization is fought in the minds of colonized" is that familiar? You don't ever give up what you have, especially if you are not sure what you gona get in return. In our case, I think we can blame everything that has happened to Somalia on colonialism, including your suggestions "Take my freedom away".
