Asha, I would have preferred to vote for Ralph Nader (not because he is of Arab decent) but because of his policies on environment, human rights, consumer affairs etc. However, he has no chance of winning according to polls. I would probably vote Democrat (i don't care about the personalites being jewish, again, one should focus on policy issues etc). The only problem I have with the democrats is their prochoice abortion policy.

So we're stictly talking theory at this point. It is true that the Palestinians have gotten the shaft in the last 50 years. But they brought a lot of that upon themselves. They gave the Jewish leadership opportunities for expansionism that the Jewish leaders took advantage of. Esspecially in 56 and 67. Remember, the Jews have felt under seige for a long time. It didn't help that you had idiots as heads of state like Nasser who refused to acknowledge that Israel had a right to exist. This kind of dogma made the Israelis more entrenched. Couple that with a constant threat of terrorist attack and the Yom Kippur war which almost defeated Israel and it's no wonder the Israelis are as paranoid as they are. In conflict resolution you always have to look at the other side. Israel is a very small country and is surrounded by a people which can be very unreasonable when they want to be. The Israelis have treated the Palestinains poorly, but what would have happened if the Arabs had won the war in 56? They would destroyed Israel and kill the Jews living there. The Jews know this and that's why they are so entrenched. Personally I think the time is ripe for compromise and the establishment of a Palestinian State, but I can understand the fears that the citizens of Israel have.

The one who fired his weapon did so without proper cause, this would be aggravated assault. The ones who assaulted you - this is simple assault. Both of these groups go to court and the one who did the shooting goes to jail. The others who could have intervened get punished by their department as they deem appropriate for failing to properly perform their duties. I'm not saying your religious values shouldn't impact on your thought - everyone deos that. What I'm saying is you shouldn't claim closer STATE relationships because of that. Other Moslems are NOT neccessarily your brothers (or sisters). Saudis for example, will stick a knife in their own mothers back if they think they will profit from it. They're as bad as the Italians - not that I want to generalize mind you. Islam doesn't address everything and some things it addresses have become somewhat obsolete - like approaches to banking. As for the Palestinian cause, actually the Palestinians have a good case in spite of what Hillary CLinton says. But the Jews have a good case too. And as for Somalis they have nothing to do with this case (no self-interest) and so they should be looking at it from a neutral standpoint and evaluating each side without bias. This "Islam is the Alpha and the Omega" approach will leave you in bed with Al-Itihad types, Shaydan in disguise. Before you know it my poor Somalia ends up looking like Afghanistan and that would suck.

Now I could be wrong, but I did not see anywhere in the Qur'an where it mentions the Internet. Therefore, even Sharia lawmakers would have to INTERPRET the application and establishment of law regarding the internet. Automobiles. I don't remember any section of the Qur'an that sets speed limits or even mentions the Car. Therefore, someone outside of Qur'anic law must do that. You want something that even applied back then: Type of governmental system. I have yet to see anywhere in the Qur'an where it proscribes if there should be a legislature and if so how large this body should be. Do people vote for it or how is it established. Should there be a king? How is he chosen? You see my point. The Qur'an does address many aspects of life, but not all. I've seen people in this very forums ask if Somalia in the future should have a democratic or Islamic government. As if the two were diametrically oppossed. There, you happy now? Komande America is not, I say again, is not the enemy of Islam. So give it a rest. America supports the state of Israel. That does not make it an enemy of Islam. America also supports the state of Egypt (to the tune of about 2 Billion dollars a year). America supports the State of Jordan. America supports the Palestinian Authority (another half billion there). America has close ties with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Yemen, Morocco, Tunisia. The west is not at war with Islam, so give it a rest. And if you hate it so much, then why don't you move to one of your beloved Muslim countries instead of just bitching all the time like an old woman.
