Angry Somali

Monday, August 21, 2000 - 07:53 am
I was away from my homeland Somalia since I was 14 and I come places like this to meet my fellow Somalis, but you people disappointed me and everyone like me real bad. I ask myself why my people hate one another so much.

You people hate other fellow Somalis because of their clan, place of birth or even gender. I read so many threads that started as some normal discussion but ended up in flames and name calling. This happens everywhere but I think we Somalis possess more than our share of anger and hate toward others.

Somalis show their hate in every place such as somalinet forums, somalinet voice chat and the regular chat.

I ask myself why do these hate their own people!

People plz wake up and respect your people! You are Somali after all. The word somali means a lot to me and I get sick to my stomach whenever I come across my fellow people exchanging real nasty words just because they don't agree on some issues.

There is a difference. African-Americans wish they were white and hate their black skin and kinky hair. Most, if not all, Somalis love their identity, they just hate the other tribes. So we gotta plant the love of Islam in the heart of every Somali and all will be alright. Simplistic maybe, but faith is a powerful thing.

And please never compare bloody African-Americans to us. They are disgusting creatures.

Allaah in His infinite wisdom also created the sewer rat. Now are you gonna suggest that we live cheek-by-jowl with this filthy animal. Of course not and by the same token we have to make sure that we avoid Black Americans and their noxious sewer culture.

In fact we should avoid all foreigners like the plague, cause that is exactly what they will bring you, a plague of diseases(HIV, AIDS, HERPES and myriad other exotic diseases). I harp on the Blacks only because there are misguided souls out there who think that we actually share something with these idiots. We share nothing with them other than black skin. And if that is enough, does that render Madrasi Indians as our soul brothers. Get real man.

The only blacks I have any respect for are the real muslims which are few and far between. Do not for a second think that Farakhan and his acolytes are real Muslims. Read their literature if you still think they are real mulsims and you will be left shaking your head at the extent of their infidelity. There are maybe 50,000 real native black Americans that practice the orthodox and authentic muslim religion. The rest are hell-bound mujrims.

Abdul wake up man. Meesha Maraykan madow kaa xigo, nin kaama xigo ee ha ku hungoobin.

Don't be a xenophobic idiot. The only thing you have in common with American Blacks is skin color? And all this time I thought that Somalis were human. Can you please clarify for me what species Somalis belong to, cause I obviously missed it.
Then you bounce back to religion again. So if you met some piece of sh*t from Somalia who claimed to be a Muslim (and the list of these folks is long) you would rather hang with him than a decent guy who lives on your block but is jewish? What's wrong with that picture? If you were a Msulim who paid attention to his religion you would embrace those with different beliefs and try to help them see the light. Or at least pray for their souls. But instead you choose to speak ill of anyone who's different and write them off. Again, you continue to reveal that you are a true hypocrite. It's folks like you that give Islam a bad name.

Mudane Xoogsade!
you Definitely and completely, unquestionably right. We have nothing in common with black Americans except the skin clour..

Black American's invent,discover and produce.
Somalian's are known to DESTROOOOOOY dad iyo duunyoba..

Read on this article Maniac

"What Would This World Be Without Black Americans"
A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans,so they join together and wished us away.
They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people. At first these white people breathe a sigh of relief. At last, they say no more crime, drugs, violence and welfare. All of the blacks have and are gone!! Then suddenly, reality sets in.

"NEW AMERICA" is not America at all -- only a
barren land.

1. There are very few crops that have flourished
because the nation was built on a slave-supported system.

2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers
because Alexander Mils, a black man, invented
the elevator, and without it, one finds great difficulty reaching the higher floors.

3. There are few, if any, cars because Richard
Spikes, a black man, invented
the automatic gear shift. Joseph Gammell, also a black man, invented the Super
Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A Morgan invented the traffic signals.

4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid
transit system because its precursor was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Elbert R. Robinson.

5. Even if there were streets on which cars anda rapid transit system Could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American,
Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper.

6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and books because John Love invented the pencil sharpener,William Purvis invented the fountain pen, Lee Burridge invented the Type Writing Machine and W.A. Lovette invented the Advanced Printing Press. They too were all black men.

7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they ould not have been transported by mail because William
Barry invented the Postmarking and Canceling Machine,William Purvis invented the Hand Stamp and Phillip Downing invented the Letter Drop.

8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph
Smith invented the Lawn
Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower.

9. When they entered their homes, they found them
to be poorly ventilated and heated.
You see, Frederick Jones invented the Air Conditioner and Alice Parker the Heating Furnace.
Their homes were also dim. But of course, Lewis Latimer invented the Electric Lamp, Michael Harveyinvented the Lantern and Granville T.
Woods invented the Automatic cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W. Steward invented the Mop and Lloyd P. Ray, the Dust Pan.

10. Their children met them at the
door-barefooted, shabby, motley and
unkempt. But what could one expect. Jan E. Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lasting
Machine, Walter Sammons invented the Comb, Sarah Boone invented the Ironing Board
and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer.

11. Finally, they were resigned to at least have
dinner amidst all of this
turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled
because another black man,
John Standard invented the refrigerator.
What would this world be like without Black Americans?

May I suggest you move out of that housing project in Jane n Finch brotha And--> to the real world where you can see/meet productive black ppl.

Wa bilahi towfiiq

Ps. Mr white dude aka Major Mad Mac this is not white bashing:)

It is true the blacks have a good historical figures and had to overcome a great deal. But that was the good(bad?) old days when they were doing the overcoming. And you even neglected the man who is for me the greatest Black American of all time, Frederick Douglass.

But as you know Somalis have a saying: Rag waa raggii hore hadalna waa intuu yidhi. The black Americans are the living proof of the wisdom of that Somali saying. Today's blacks couldn't invent a recipe to save their lives never mind these complicated machines you describe. Most of them couldn't spell "CAT" if you gave them a C and a T. They are losers in the game of life. All they ever do is complain how "The Man" is opressing them. What oppression? I know Somali guys in Minnesota who don't even know how to say hello in English and they got so much money in the few years they have been here they are thinking of going home to retire? What is the difference? These guys don't blow their money on fancy cars and white women of easy virtue whom they kill when they predictably cheat on them and get incarcerated for life. Instead they work hard, spend very little and save like a jew. That is the way to beat the White man and his system.

Of course you have heard what the UN peacekeepers did to Cambodia. An isolated clean country. But when the soldiers came prostitution, drugs, alcohol and above all AIDS. 200 a day die in Cambodia today. Before the UN arrival they didn't have peace but HIV infection was statistically zero. And prostitution and drugs virtually unheard of.

HI people
She , u seem to be a person trying to preach peace
and virtue, i like dat however i found in so many
of ur postings dat u are preaching da opposite when it cames to certain issues like religion,
somalia , etc just to name a few ,
on da issue of african americans , well iam not
gonna say dat we(somalis) are any better ,but we
surely have something to fall back to ,i have lived among blackz n go to collage with them , to
be honest , i wouldn't encourage any being to join
da black culture,i truely admire their historical
figures ,they were men dat were really tested ,n
lived through da tough periods,i salute them,
today's blackz however live in a virtuel world ,
da majority are misguided , dis-oriented n lost ,
da old good(or bad days as xoog put it) are merely
history, back than blackz were concentrated in certian areas living in communities with considerable freedom ,dat's was how they maintain
their culture , anyaway da point is today's black
people have no sense obligation to towards their
communities ,dis is atleast evident in where i live , anywhere in ny state from ny city , jamestown , buffolo , syrcuse , utica ,binghamton
to da state capital albany ,party , sex n drugs are da order of da day ,da few succesful ones
never look back ,they are many somalis like dat ,
but wat differ us is dat we have our somaliness
n somalia to fall back to in case we mess up pretty bad ,i have seen alot of bro's messed up
but most of them have learned from their mistakes,
God bless everyone
xoogsade , i would agree with u on my things , however ur arguments are filled with emotions , perhaps from past expereinces ,on one occosion(in another posting) u called african american monkey
boys , dat's low n ill ,u need to go through sensetivity program , if dat won't work , read da
DA QURAN as ur last resolve ,may i remind u Bilaal
was indeed a Habashi(negro),calling something like
dat seriouly questions ur state of mind,
Mad Mac , u siad u are from boston , i was there dis summer in chelsea ,da fireworks were great in
4th july n da tall ships dat were later , anyaway
are still hang up with da somali issues , wat do u
think of da new goverment?

Xoogsade-
It saddens me to read what you wrote. Don't you realize that it takes sheer energy and genius to rise above the obstacles that are placed by society and system on the black person in the US. The level of education opportunities provided for the inner city children (which are predominately African american) is of poor quality and virtually nonexistant. Most inner city (and FYI that is where the largest african americans populations live)dwellers live in public housing surrounded by crime and most young black men look forward to incarceration before they reach 21 (1 out of every 3 black men have been through the judicial system in one form or another). Most families are led by young women (result of unplanned teenage pregnancies)with very young mothers as role models. Do you realize that with women having children out of wedlock at 15, and their daughters following their footsteps at 14/13- one can be a grandmother at 29?! There is no role model or extended family to speak of. And when these youngsters strive to complete high school/university- and join the workforce, they are discriminated against and face stereotyping bigots like yourself. Not much is expected of them from the beginning and soon they may not expect much from themselves. Black americans are discriminated against in housing and credit.
So what if they seem to get pleasure out of dressing well and spending on themselves? Remember when you are poor and you are seen as poor by all around you, you will try to dress well. It is a result of this society. I remember when I first came to this country, I was proud and arrogant I used to walk into any store I wnated, expecting others to serve me. I walked into any restaurant- Tiffany's? Ring the doorbell! So what if my jeans were tattered!
With years- I mellowed. Now if I want to visit upper-end stores, I dress for the part. If at a restaurant I am seated in the back tables, near the restrooms- I don't fuss as loud. This country gets to you! And I grew up in a society were the president and the janitor looked like me. Who are we to criticize an african american who grew up in this twisted society?
So when an african american sister or brother rises above all those problems to attend university and acheive success, we should see them for what they truly are. A true survivor.
Criticizing is so easy to do. Walk a mile in their footsteps and maybe you will understand.

PS. I am not for assimilating either! Let us NOT take the culture of the african-american or the white-american. We are somalis.

Anon:

I had to gather my wits about me cause this is indeed a serious and very thoughtful argument.

Caraweelo:

Nobody disagrees with the problems faced by black Americans in a very racist society as the USA. A country built on racism from the very disgraceful start to judge by their Constitution's morally corrupt compromise with slavery. Thurgood Marshall, The august black Supreme Court Justice, said that he could not "find the wisdom, foresight and sense of justice exhibited by the framers of the Constitution as particularly profound. The government they devised was defective from the start."And Black Americans have the misfortune of carrying the burden of this awful and dehumanizing inheritance every day of their live.

The only thing I have a problem with is their response to the racism that obviously exists. It could very well be that the newcomer who does not carry all the emotional and historical baggage stands a better chance of success. That the black man might, as the vast majority do, see any engagement and integration into the mainstream American society as a betrayal of their blackness, hence the condemnation of the "succesful, 'white speaking', educated" black as a sellout and an Uncle Tom.

Instead many blacks have resorted to a nihilistic and ultimately self-destructive patterns that assure that black poverty and underachievement will continue. It is a fact that blacks today lag behind most groups, even new immigrants in all the skills needed to compete in today's high-tech multiracial society. A situation that in all likelihood will continue unabated for the simple reason that today in the urban ghettoes of America the criminal and violent are romanticized heroes while the bookish and hard-striving boys are derided as geeks, whiteys, sellouts and nerds and suchlike.

The point of this whole wearying and long-winded discourse is that since we Somalis as recently arrived immigrants, with only a vague and indirect connection to the igniminious history of America, who do not have to carry all that baggage, would it not be better for us to pursue our own agenda? After all we have our own issues to work through without taking on the problems of America as well. No doubt life is difficult in America for all minorities and the duskier your complexion the harder the your lot. But it is also a land of infinite opportunities where with hard work and effort one can accomplish some measure of success. We have to make a grab for the PENTHOUSE not the OUTHOUSE to paraphrase Jesse Jackson himself(No 1 race baiter, where would he be without racial conflict I wonder)

Editorial column from a Canadian newspaper:

Fifteen years ago, Doris Lessing, the celebrated novelist, gave a series of lectures broadcast on CBC radio and then published as a book titled Prisons We Choose to Live Inside. In the last line of her last lecture, she urged open-mindedness above all else. We must, she said, examine ideas "from whatever source they come, to see how they may usefully contribute to our lives."

Dismissing ideas without a fair hearing is something we do constantly -- especially if their proponents are of a different political stripe. Which is why Larry Elder, a popular and irreverent Los Angeles talk-radio host, deserves attention.

With a just-released book, The Ten Things You Can't Say in America, and a national television show beginning this fall, Mr. Elder may well be the next Dr. Laura or Rush Limbaugh. And while his breathtakingly blunt, usually conservative views have infuriated many listeners -- who've boycotted him and called him a "self-hating race-baiter" (Mr. Elder is black) -- many of his ideas warrant serious consideration.

Insisting that the United States' biggest social problem isn't violence, racism or income disparity but unwed pregnancies, Mr. Elder cites data indicating that fatherless homes produce three-quarters of U.S. felons. All the social programs in the world, he says, can't replace a stable, nuclear family in which male children learn how to be productive, self-disciplined adults by modeling themselves after their fathers.

Describing himself as a libertarian rather than a Republican, Mr. Elder believes government should meddle in people's private lives as little as possible. Thus, he opposes government restrictions on businesses, abortion and gun ownership equally.

For similar reasons, he believes the "war against drugs is wrong both tactically and morally." It is not the government's job, he believes, to tell people it's OK to drink a martini but not smoke a joint. While admitting that irresponsible drug use can be unhealthy, he points out that drug "abuse would have to increase well over fivefold to match the deaths caused by cigarette smoking."

Mr. Elder says the United States' position on illicit drugs costs that country approximately $200-billion a year (roughly the equivalent of its annual deficit), undermines inner-city communities by providing "an economic incentive for children and teens to drop out of school and earn fast money," and is one of the primary reasons so many blacks end up behind bars.

In this last instance, Mr. Elder points out that while South Africa, under apartheid, jailed 729 black men for every 100,000 of them in the population, the United States jails 3,109 per 100,000. "Figure this out," he writes. "In the land of the Bill of Rights, we jail over four times as many black men as the only country in the world that advertised a political policy of apartheid."

This doesn't mean Mr. Elder is soft on crime -- or that he believes racism is rampant. Calling the United States "the least racist white-majority society in the world" (guess he's never been to Canada), he has harsh words for black leaders who, in his words, tell kids: " 'They're out to get you, cops want to brutalize you, the system hates you' ... this nonsense slides right off the skin of a child brought up in a home with strong parental role models, where dad gets up and goes to work even when he doesn't feel like it," he says. But it "hurts the child with little or no guidance, who puts on the television and hears leader after leader blame slavery, the dastardly white man, the great white pumpkin, for our 'plight.' "

Mr. Elder's view on slavery amounts to: Get over it. Slavery was a historical fact of life in many countries and was practised by blacks, too, he says. With more daring than many, he then asks an obvious question: "Suppose the slave trade never happened, and the 30 million American blacks instead lived in Africa. Would they be better off?"

Number one on his list of things you can't say in America? That "blacks are more racist than whites." Yet according to the Anti-Defamation League, he says, "anti-Semitism in America is at an all-time low, except in the black community, where anti-Semitism is three times the national average." Ouch.

Some of Mr. Elder's arguments are stronger than others. But paying attention to even a few of them might help make the world a better place.

So I suggest that you look up and see what his Message was. I can tell from your various postings that you have No clue whatsoever ! what the Message was all about.
Dont tell us about some Gaal who wrote a book, give us a Verse from the Quran or a Hadith that Supports your views.

What's your point??? That nothing except the Qur'an is worth reading?? That nothing that comes from a gaal has merit?? Does the Qur'an give detailed lessons on how to be a doctor or how to engineer the construction of a bridge or a high rise? It's not as if the Qur'an and Islam are the Alpha and the Omega on every idea and social ill. Get a clue. Xoogsades article was interesting and informative. Whether or not you agree with it doesn't mean it wasn't worth reading. If I am talking about a social problem in America there's a chance there's nothing in the Qur'an or Hadith that starts out with "In America we see .......The solution to this problem is......." There's more to life than just what's in the Qur'an and Hadith. You sound like one of those sand pimps from Saudi Arabia who doesn't want to talk about anything other than religion.
