If Mr. Salad approaches his selection as the Somali people's cry for tolerance and their yearning for brotherly compassion, he will succeed.
There are calls for disarmament and heaven knows that Somalia is in dire need for disarmament, however this should not be the first task or even the priority of Mr. Salad and his regime.
His priority should be to show in action tolerance and accommodation of others who did not agree with him. He should call for national unity, respect of others, consensus building and most importantly dispel of fear and mistrust.
Instead of seeking to rebuild Somali Army, the transitional government should answer the need of the Somali children for education and health care. In the coming three years Mr. Salad should not budget one red cent for military use.
Mr. Salad is at the presence of chronically ill patient and should behave as a caregiver, and not follow his mentor's footsteps.
The daunting task assigned to Mr. Salad is well daunting and no envy there. For that, he needs to take baby steps-one step forward, two steps backward. Why the rush, he has three years to heal the nation.

I do concurr completely.The Baby steps strategy is geniotic.Health care,and education are the fundamendal issues that salad has to explore.But,(i mean if i was his political analayst)i would suggest a careful plan to restore core piece among the citizens.Army could be intimidating,but police could be optional and viable.Also,hunger and nutrition for the children and women is..PARAMOUNT.A careful plan to establish a local chain of law enforcement and free commerce,enterpirce is crusial if we need to achieve drastic improvement.Lastly i could only hope Mr salad is our hope,for a start..! |
