it is true in london a couple of weeks ago a somali lady killed her son because he became gay.....he moved to the house across the street from her and she invited him and his gay friend to lunch....she put poison in the food, her son was found dead but it was too late to find her as she already flew to somalia. |

anywayz i'd like to say something too....through no fault of my own my father is a gaal, im only half somalia but 100% muslim.....the thing is even though i was raised in somalian and muslim culture most somalian people (especially the older generation) dont seem to care to them, i still seem like a gaal.....2 years ago i fell in love with a somalian guy and which ended up with him proposing to me, of course i said yes and so we asked my mother and she also gave us her blessing.......but then when it came to him asking his mother she refused saying that her son would not marry some half breed white trash gaal and ••••, what angered me most was that he didnt even try to defend me or anything, when his mother finished saying what she had to sayhe turned around and said to me he couldnt marry me because i wasnt good enough for him.

90. But those who reject Faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of Faith,- never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have (of set purpose) gone astray.
91. As to those who reject Faith, and die rejecting,- never would be accepted from any such as much gold as the earth contains, though they should offer it for ransom. For such is (in store) a penalty grievous, and they will find no helpers.
Al-Imran.

but we can look at this another way. I am not going to juge the strength of anyones faith nor do I want any one to juge mine, so maybe it's not just about your faith but about how close you are to your somali culture and people.
I am willing to admit that I was borne in soudi Arabia and I live in Europe. I have never been to somalia ( I hope to go to somalia one day Insha Allah) and my contact with other somali people is small...

lol sis if you are really telling the truth and you are genuine about disregarding race,clan and class in your creteria for your future husband then your are a unique and precious gem among our Somali woman. Most Somali parents would regurgitate at the mere mention of their offspring having a inter-clan relationship let alone an inter-racial marriage!! Its really nice to see a opinionated and independent minded Somali woman taking the initiative and speaking her mind about traditionally taboo subject matter. However, I would like to point out the fact that Somalians are one of the most racist and prejudice people on the face of this Earth; and it will take much more then an individual effort on your behalf to change this entrenched psychie of racial superiority and arrogance but rather it will take a collective effort by all sections of our society to make a permanent transition for a more understanding and tolerant culture. It is futile to whine and cry about the present state of our mental status, instead we should be trying to make an effective difference that will be felt by all sectors of Somali society. If you were to go to Somalia today you will see many clans wich are considered Sab and are not permitted to inter-marry with the supposedly superior Somal clans and to a certain extend the clans that claim Arab decent will not inter-marry with other Somali clans. So in closing I would like to remind my sister Idil that this racial bias that troubles you so much is a natural part of our culture and unless your are willing to make an effective difference and rally for a new culture, all your pleas for an improved and tolerant Somalian society will fall on deaf ears. Please we need beautiful and educated sisters like yourself to go back to Somalia and put some poor Jareer or midgaan Somali out his misery by accepting him for marriage

Idil, I think some of us misunderstood your question.
I understand it to be that you are saying, “If you could only be one, Muslim or Somali, which would you be?” or “What is more important to be Muslim or to be Somali?”
If these are the questions that you are asking, I would have to say that if I could be only one, then I would be Muslim because this is between me and my Lord, and my Lord’s pleasure is more important to me then my nationally.
If that is not what you were asking, and you were asking “What I was first” (i.e. which came before).
I would have to answer that I don't know which I was first. That is to say I don't know if God made me Somali then Muslim, or the other way around.
