Hey people,

I just thought I would let all the Somalis out
there know that there is a book called "A tree
for Poverty" written by a famous Canadian author
known as Margaret Lawrence. She lived in Somali
during the 1950s and she collected and translated all the stories and fables known in our culture.
Usually, it is difficult to find this kind of
literature written. The stories are usually passed
down from generation to generation. Although, it was in English, I found the translation was actually pretty good. I find it very interesting
that a famous Canadian author wrote about our
land...Somalia.

I read both above mentioned books. Many writers write about somalia and its poeple and culture. Writing is vital aspect of long last existance of culture and heritage of every society.

Somali English writers are very rare. I heard Nuradin Farah only but if you know anyone else, inform me their names and titles of their books. Thanks.
