Oh ya, We've got a socialist culture in which Somalis treat like brothers and sisters. A Somali person will never ever leave you when you are in need. That's our culture and we are proud of it. We may be going through hardships now but back in the 80s, when I was growing up in Mogadishu, every Somali adult I met treated me as if am their son. Here in America, Somalis help each other a lot and we are like a big family.
For that, I luv each and every breathing Somali. Somalis plz don't get discouraged by the civil war and the refugee life. We'll prosper insha Allah. |

The best part for me is gotta be the Love I have for my country. I was born and raised in Europe but lived in Somalia for 4 years. Trust me going to my homeland was an experience all by itself. Somalia was on a very cool life-style when I visited. I am very ashamed to admit the best time for me was the WAR. I was a kid and I was in the middle of TERMINATOR/Saving Private Ryan and the SEIGE. Only in Movies U see all that. And as a Somalian.....I ain't scared of violence.....The toughness shall stay with me fo-eva.

The best thing of being Somali in my case is learning from older once who tells u what is good and what is wrong. Because no matter where i go when i see a somali person they tell me a good thing like stay in school, make sure u pray, and all the good advices like Kii laga waayo soo joog, Soo jiifso ayaa laga helaa. Those are so true and more things that are true. I love when they used to tell me eat u are the one who is growing i mean the plate is about to be empty and they leave whatever left for u because i do the same to the young once today. We have A good culture that we need to be educated And i lOve u all........ |

ok i see some people are drifting away from the topic mentioned on top....
to me, the best part about being somali is our lifestyle happens to be very simple.....we may be very poor but proud and still dignified...somali nomads are arrogant yet compationate and very hospitable when visited at their homes.....sometimes they are violent and territorial just like wild animals; given their environment, who wouldn't fight for territory. you know, individually, they don't really own marked, specific land for their livestock to flourish then clashes from land disputes are inevitable. And so it went on to the cities. the entire civil war was ignited by nomads who viewed the governmental authority as a grazing territory for their camels and sheep. let's say Siad barre,aideed, ali mahdi and the rest of them who all got the blame for the destruction, were born nomads and grew up with such mentalities that even after some of them were educated, screwed things up............ |

The best part of being Somali is having your family concern and support even when you're 50yrs old. Mother and Father who'll over you their last peice of bread when you have nothing. Not like these white folks.
