I'm talking Carpenters, early Motown, and I think I'll give you a sample of what I mean. For some time now song writing has become quite juvenile and seems everyone can do it. Yet it remains that people back in the day really knew how to "woo" each other, it was an art form. There were songs for all types of feelings, love, love lost, love rekindled, you name it they new how to sing it. First of all you haven't heard a ballad unless you've heard and learned to appreciate the Carpenters. "I'm on top of the world looking down on creation and the only explanation I can find Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around...You're love puts me on top of the world" 1.Carpenters have sang many ballads and they are famous for their love songs (so any ballad from them is gold quality) 2. Lionel Richie-Penny lover, Sail on (technically this song is about a love forsaken but the song is amazing), Three Times a lady, Endless love (duet with Diana Rossi)...Lionel is really a master at singing love songs 3. Temptations- they have many wonderful love tunes but my favorite is "Aint Too Proud To Beg" 4. Someone already had this pick but I love this song..."Illusion" by Imagination, also check out "Midas Touch" by Midnight Star (it's just a feel good tune)Oh and "You're my shining Star" by Manhatten 5. My favourite Prince song besides Purple Rain and "sign of the times", which pertains to love is "I wanna be your Lover" and "When Doves Cry" 6. Michael Jackson, now this man can sing, although he has some fabulous love songs, the ultimate from him in this category would have to be "Human Nature (this is out on limp), Remember the Time, PYT...the list can go on 7. Teddy Pendergras "When Somebody loves you back" this is an ultimate hitter... 8. Nat King Cole-"Mona Lisa" (this is a real classic) 9. Peaches and Herb- "Reunited" 10. The Bee Gees- "Too Much Heaven" or "More than a Woman" Now you know I can go on, but also I must mention Leo Sayer this man has sang many great tunes. It was really nice sharing these tunes with you guys, I'm looking forward to seeing what others like.

If you want true country then you have to leave the superficial new country aside. Garth Brooks is a little bit of both, Leanne is a little bit of Pop and Country.
