Assalamu alaikum,

I visited a lot of Somali chatrooms and had to live right away because there were no descent intellectual conversations. It made me even wonder if there were any Muslims in the room based on the topic of their conversation. There were a lot profanity and name calling just like there is here in the message boards of this website.subhanallah.
A great writer and a brilliant has once said; great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people. so I ask of you to please stop putting your fellow Somali brothers and sisters down, stop using profanity, and start thinking about the feature. We have a lot to work on; our country is torn, our people are starving back home, and our deen(religion)is endanger.
The west is said to be like a roller coaster moving down from an icy mountain, the driver of the coater is blind and yet drunk.
Can you imagine being in that coaster with your kids inside it.
Back in 1991, when I came here as a kid, homosexuals could not come out of their closet and now they have their own shows, and basically society now sees them as normal people with divient behavior. I cannot imagine how the west will be like in five or ten years. This is not where I want to have kids and raise them as Muslims. I live in a small town where there are hardly any black people, so we try to be close but it always comes down to one thing, I am a Muslim first.
I associate a lot with the Muslim University students here since I am attending a post secondary, and it blows my mind the topics they talk about and what they are capable of even though most of them were born and raised here, they still know their status as Muslims.

We should be able to do the same.
Please keep in mind that there are people who are considering to becoming a Muslim, don't be the reason why they decide to stay away from Islam because they see the way that you are behaving as a Muslim and decide to stay away from the deen. How will you explain that on the day of judgement.

May Allah guide us all on right path and keep us from sin.

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
your sister in Islam

Maryam:
I loved ur post...its good to hear that U want to make a change.
"but it always comes down to one thing, I am a Muslim first." when U said that I was like wow. Cause nowadays its all about their where they are reppin' let it be east west/somalia and so on. People seem to be forgetting' why we are here in this world we are here to prepare or selves for the after life. This life is wat will determine if we will be the people of the fire or the people of paradise.

I'm also sick and tired of the people that mix the teachings of Islam with their culture. They must understand that when ur culture conflicts with ur religion then U should be following ur religion and should not start making bida/innovation(bring things to Islam that never belonged their).>>>>and if any1 tries to tell me that somalians don't do this then its bull
innovation lies within some somalians<<<<<<

And sisMaryam U say U go in the rooms and U see them talking inappropriate. Have U ever tried to start a conversation with the people in the rooms. Well I have and it seems like they are interested and they put their inputs and it becomes really interesting. Try it if U haven't already

Culture does not EQUAL Religion
We need to thing in terms of how will this help Islam.

Its time to unite our selves as 1 UMMAH and break done the barriers we have now a days. Inshallah by the grace of Allah(swt) we will be able to break these barriers.

If I have offended any1 please forgive me....And anything Good I have said is from ALLAH(swt).....and anything Bad is from Me.
Salamz:)
