THERE IS NO UNETY BETWEEN OUR PEOPLE TODAY WE SECONDGUESS EACH OTHER WE JUDGE EACH OTHER AND WE ARE SO FILLED WITH HATRED. WHY?
ALL OVER THE WORLD WE ARE A BURDEN. AND THE ONES SUFFERING IS NON OTHER BUT THE SOMALIE YOUTH THE TEENAGES AND THE KIDS. THEY FORGET ABOUT THEIR HISTORY AND THEIR BACKROUND AND THEY TAKE OTHER CULTURE AND OTHER RELIGION CLOSE TO THEIR HEARTS.

did it ever occur to you those people you mentioned are more or less racists themselves.....believe me in north america not a day goes by without someone passing a crude judgement about someone or something....i live in new york and i know what it feels like to live among blacks , hispanics n whites....i deal with them day in and day out......indeed not everyone in every society is bad....but to potray blacks aka jam...afro-americans as being innocent and unbiased is totally hypocrital of yu...Whites atleast for most part try to be diplomatic...they show their racism in small ways.....but black man will walk up to you.....and he will talk whatever is on his mind....if i learned anything while living in NY.....i learn to adopt to new things and at same time i felt the need to be myself....i tried to identify with blacks but it felt like i was chasing a ghost....in other words they were different people and i was different from them.....n i was not one of them....some even despise how i look....their version of an African person is one from west Africa....to some them i was just half-creed bastard......as person i get along with everyone as far as work and school is concerned.......i limit my socail life to somalis not but coz iam racist but coz bad experiences with non-somalis......anyway my point is racism is everywhere.....n these people judge us the same way we judge....those who inter-mingle with somalis even bad-mouth us.....i don't think i need to tell da bad things they say about somali girls and somalis in general. |

bro you're right and I'm sorry that I wasn't clear what I whanted whith this subject is that I whanted to know how come we are so prejudice and that is a reality we can't escape from, we judge in everything. But when I mentioend jamaicans is that I've seen how you talk about them all over the forums and I know that some are good and some are bad but I don't think it's right to judge a people by the way some of them behave.
I honestly didn't know before what they said about somalies I learned this in theese forumss, and that is true. I've never come across were I live people who talk bad about somalies in general. And the way the talk about somalie girls I really didn't think that they have so low thoughts about us. I don't know if the reason to that is that I live in Scandinavia but I honestly have not heard from people bad comments about somalies in general. |

Ok. Jamiila i also wonder sometimes why people always like to trash the forumss with nonsense. And why they enjoy bad mouthing other people. I understand that every1 is entitled to their own opinion. But in here some ppl dont like to give u the freedom of expression and if they do they interrupt what u were trying to say in the baddest way they can. I know a couple of ppl who dont not enjoy posting in the forumss because of the attackers who seem to be waiting for prey to attack. I strongly believe that every1 is entitled to theirs own opinion or belief and that every1 should RESPECT every1's oponion and Belife.

Yeah its true that we see racism all over the place. But is that an excuse for us to become racist Because "every1 is doing it". I certainly dont think so its Up to us the FUTURE to make the change. And yeah Jamicans and other ppl make fun of our somalian sisters But hey who can blame the somalian Brothers who are supposed to help their fellow sisters DONT instead they help the other ppl put remarks about the somalian sisters on the street. let me tell about a personal experience...... plzz hear me out.......
well, view years back i was just like any average young somali refugee tryin to survive in this cold whethear of BRITAIN london to be exact.
obviously i was another skinny somalian young fellow, i was subjected to constent racial abuse on dailly basis from all other the racis!!!!!!!!!!
i use to have fights regularly at school, at work and on the street.
i also had another a problem: i never really use to get along with many somalis, because i was brought up in the middle east, so i had a little culture difference with ur average somali.
anyway, to make a long story short, i start lifting weights and eating good food..and step by step i developed my self into some what of a giant.... AND THAT WAS THE TURNING POINT OF LIFE.
NOW, i'm bigger then most of the negroes (slave babes) that are on the streets. and as a result i'm being given the out most respect with out even saying nothing at all.
i also learnt 1 very important thing over the last view years, that this is: WHEN U LOVE UR SELF AND FEEL PROUD AND DIGNIFIED ABOUT WHO U R AND WHERE U FROM,, THEN THAT IS WHEN OTHERS WILL BE ATTRACTED TO Y.O.U AND WILL SHOW YOU RESPECT AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
THIS IDEOLOGY WORKS BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND NATIONS.
COMING BACK TO THE CORE ISSUE OF THIS DEBATE.
its a fact that somalians never been racist in the past, but now they are back @ home in the forums of tribelism and barbaric ideolgies and the reason for is ignorence and stupidity.

Bro with all do respect you're wrong. Only the stupid one leaves his Dignity and induvidual pride. I've seen how some somalies can be they carry them selves with such pride and dignity and they never let any foreigns put them down. But sometime if they get the chance to choose between pride and knowledge I'm 100 % sure that most of the somalies choose pride. Pride is good, belive me I know that but sometimes you can put it a side.
And the people you've mentioned they have not only been oppressed in 100 years they've been oppresed in over 400 years. And they have survived beacuse they put their pride a side. Somali PPL, like any other race have a mixture of good and bad. Our pride is an essential part of our charicter and will be hard to put aside.
Today we face our greatest problem, which is for the Somali's back home to get a lasting peace.
For the ones in the diaspora, or outside Somalia, the issue is to adapt to alian cultures which are totaly different from our own. Somali's living in the urban cities of the west, such as the Americas and Europe have been introduced to people they are not traditionaly familliar with, and this has created tension and hostility. Take for instance London England in the early 90s it was very difficult being a Somali as the level of racist abuse was very high. Who was being racist and made the Somali people feel most unwelcome, it was the Afro-Caribean communities who where the most bent on harasing the new commers. It was this community who used the name Somali as a word of insult. We have over time grew to live with them, and they have realised that we are not going anywhere and are more than their equals.
So to my sister Jamilia, we have all as Somali's faced our struggles, but trust me for 13 years I as a child had to endure racsist abuse and have fought
countless fights just because I was Somali, and in London that was a weakness, I would like to add not all Afro-Cribeans are bad, i have couple of friends from that community.

hey jail,
first of all..I am really proud of you for bringing up the truth and something somebody among us had to mouth. It is my first night I have ever read this Somali forums and you cannot imagine what I have encounter in here..I have never thought or even dreamed about Somali ppl talking or acting like this(barbarians)..I have never thought they could insult each other from tip to bottom and feel proud of it..and hey Somali ppl R not alien to me..I grew up among them ..but tonight it seemed like if I have seen some alien ppl in here...I grew up in a society where we were trained not to even use the word stupid let alone all the nasty stuff they were saying to each other..and this experience shocked me and I am not recovered yet!!I have come to this western world lately and have been here a less time but nevertheless I saw how our ppl have taken a big time change especially teens and youth...and I guess the explanation depends on many situations...
for example teens some of them try to fit in a community and to do that and to feel accepted they act like westerns and eventually they lose themselves in the process....but I keep on wondering what happened to the 28 or 29 year old person who is like that??..at that age it is time for ppl to settle down and think about their future life...
this isn't the first time Somalis become racist..they have been 50 years ago and will always be..but talking from my own point of view..it shouldn't matter where a person is from as long as he/she is Muslim and they can understand U for who U R.....all things about Jamaicans and all the things about Negro..it doesn't really matter if a guy or a gal is Muslim Jamaican ...she/he is lawful to marry..but all the messing around...guys plz don't make me puke now..so Somali ppl try to maintain what U R and plz do something for ourselves instead of being rivals..we don't have time for rivals now..we left our home for it...I guess that is all I gottta say now ..I will get back though..

this was a plesent surprise.....finaly somone.....with commen sense.......I agree with everything you said but eccept one thing.....you said that : it shouldn't matter where a person is from as long as he/she is Muslim and they can understand U for who U R"........I do agree but at the same time I don't..and the reason to that is.....we should.respect individuals for what they are...not for what they aren't and in this case....they aren't somalie/non-muslims......the respect should be there no matter what religion you have and where your're from.............
I value a person on his/her character...not on what heritance they have.....no it's wrong to do that......and bro/sis.....I had exactly the same reaction as you had when I first came to this forums.....the first weeks everything this people wrote amazed me.....but now I'm use to it.....
