I ponder on the words you utter about afro-Americans, let me tell you this, without there strive against slavery you so called somalian would have been slave this day an age. not all African Americans are they way you describe them,keep in mind people come in variations. if you had contact with unpleasant side, we too carry that part. don't be judgmental. this are people who haven't encounter or for that matter been lucky to know their identity. so feel reluctant that you know your heritage. give a break the brothers.afro-america person is more close to me that i should entice myself to. they are fed up with you as you are to them. |

Slaams my beautiful black Kings and Queens
Let me start off by asking two questions to my fellow Somalis: Can you people stop being so damn hypocrites and prejudice? Also, Can you please take a minute to look at the mirror? What colour are you? BLACK!!! Some of you might be with lighter complexion with different hair texture but you're BLACK. You will bleach yourself with DIANA or relax your hair with GENTLE TREATMENT like every other black african-american woman. I will be the first to say that I relax my hair even though my hair considered a GOOD HAIR (whatever that means)it makes life so much easier. 
This is one of the reasons why we Somalis don't have a country and shattered all over the world. We divide ourselves and think we are better than others. I can understand you may not want to interact with different cultures and religion. But let's face it you need a reality check in your life. African-americans didn't force us to come to America. They haven't done anything but welcome you to the country with a warm smile and open arms. Sooner or later we have to accept that our culture and features will diminish. I know many people who married african americans and other races and who live in a good life.
My bestfriend happens to be a African-American man who's beautiful both inside and outside. I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's the brother that I never had. He's been there for me through thick and thin. You have to understand that there is good and bad in every culture. He accepts my choice and reasons of being with a Somali brother and he is very supportive.
FYI: If it wouldn't for Malcom X and Dr.King we wouldn't be here living a good life. So Let's celebrate our beautiful black skin and power black people!!!

I don't know what to say about some of the postings here. This is soooooooo ridiculous!!
I'm a African-American living in Maryland.
I'm also a Systems Engineer working at the
Department of Defense. Why is it that some of
you refer to yourselves as a seperate race of
people? I consider myself African first. This is
above and beyond anything else other than a human
being. Somali isn't a race!!!!!!!!! It is however a culture and within that culture are different practices and such, we all know that. Why are Aficans all over the world always trying to seperate themselves from other Africans. I think it all comes down to a sorta self hatred. We all need to do some serious work on ourselves. My brother is married to a very beautiful and wonderful Somali woman. He had a few problems with some of the family memebers, but things ended up working out in the end. Most of the issues were do to ignorance. This is really our worst enemy. TO NOT NO ANY BETTER AND NOT WANT TO KNOW IS A TERRIBLE THING. LET'S ALL TRY TO EDUCATED OURSELVES AND STOP HATING FOR STUPID REASONS.
