We were thinking, that we choose a topic
then we can read a book about that topic.
We also can choose 1 book as a group, but
if we read different books we can discuss
different point of views and how we feel about it.
And since we live a cross the globe we may not
have the same books, but a topic is easier.Any girl
can join in,we don't mind but a group of at least
8 would be great,so that we can get a discussion going!

Pride and Prejudice is the best choice. For all you have not read it, please do -it’s the most interesting literature you can read.

Habbon and Siya Thanks for bringing it up. Lol

If you haven’t read it; it’s about a family called the Bennett’s in the late 18th century, living in Old England. The Bennett’s have Five daughters, the story revolves around them and their tempramental mother, Mrs. Bennett who will do anything to make her daughters find suitable Husbands. It is hilarious and romantic to read.

The main chartacter (Elizabeth- my favorite) is the star of the book, witty, outspoken and Beautiful, she is romantically involved with the Handsome Mr Darcy, who at first appears, obnoxious, proud and conceiful, then transforms to an agreeable charming, lovable Gentleman who will unexpectingly win Lizzy’s heart (Elizabeth). I guess you can call that Love!

The rest of the book is really an astonishing fact of the age of innocence, that has class, culture, manners and matters of the heart.

Habbon and Siya; Whom do you think you found strikingly interesting from the supporting characters, I know you must love Elizabeth and Darcy and Jane, but who do you think from the tiniest parts they have left you with a mark of rememberance?

Mine was Lady Catherine de bough. She really became a fixation of Humor and favorite to me.I thought she was irritating enough to make me scream, but I thought ….wow this Lady is really annoying.

Anyway for those of you who have not read it, please do or you can watch it on a video, then read the book – MUST read the book. Lol Jane Austen is a joy to read.

I hope I don’t sound too much obsessed with the book. lool

Hey Basra!!

I heard you liked Jane Austen but had no idea you read that book.loool

Anyways, last year I had to read twelve books for my English literature including "Pride& Prejudice," I loved it so much that most of my essays throughout the class were focused on that book alone.

Oooh,I hated Mr.Darcy at first. He was just too proud and beyond being pleased, not to mention how rude and self conceited he was at the assembly. Elizabeth on the other hand, was a strong female character who did not allow anyone to look down at her because of her class or because of her sex.

I aplauded her when she turned down Darcy's first proposal. He sounded as though he expected a "yes" answer since she was in a lower class than he was.

I thought Mrs.Bennet was hilarious. Her views about Mr.Darcy changed very quickly after he proposed to her doughter. Lady Catherine was just irritating and annoying. I did not like her one bit.

In the end, Elizabeth falls in love with Mr.Darcy not because of his social class but because of his hidden character. Her romantic love, brings about moral and social change. As a result of Elizabeth's influence, and in the hope of pleasing, Darcy rethinks his pride, opens himself up to new social alliances. Elizabeth has the power to transform apparent hostility into lasting commitment and a happy-ever-after marriage..

Well, I hope I didn't give away the whole book.loool
For those of you who still want to read it...please don't stop. I haven't seen the video but I'll rent it soon..

Habbonloool

The proposal refusal was the best part,i enjoyed it profoundly.Lol

And...the grand respond of Elizabeth to Mr.Darcy following his rude, proud, insulting proposal....it goes like...

""From the very beginning -from the first moment, i may almost say - of my acuaintance with you, your manners ,impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance ,your conceit, and your disdain of the feelings of others, were such as to form that groundwork of disapporabation on which succeeding events have built so immovable a dislike; and i had not known you a month before i felt that you were the last man in the world whom i could ever be prevailed on to marry"

Mr Darcy.shocking replied with detailed creduility ......."You have said quite enough Madam"

You see how i love Elizabeth, her manners impress me with Fullest delight,i can find no woman worth mimicking than my own thine Heroine.lol

But Habbon,

Also my heart ached when Finally Elizabeth visited the House of Pemberly(Mr. Darcy's Masion) and she fell inlove, and she stood there beside the window gazing outside,i remember distinctively the describtion of her dress,a white velvet long dress with a fair over coat and a bonnet, and she stared outside the view, and whispered......"With all this?.....With all this Beauty to think that i would have mean the Mistress of the Estate"?

That Realisation made me reach for my Handkerchief!

looooooooooool Basra!

Yeah that was sad....but I admired her for being strong...
Did you notice that she even cried after she turned down his first proposal...She didn't defend herself when Lady Catherine accused her either which leads me to believe that she had strong feelings for him even then....she just refused to show it until he came to his sences....

What did you think about Mr.Bingley's sisters??
All I can say right now is, "little witches,"looooool
They were mean...

Elizabeth did defend herself against the witch Lady Catherine de Bough. She was not as insulting as her ladyship was,but she was nevertheless, defensive.I thought her collection in manners was quite impacable.Although in Lady Catherine de Bough's eyes, not getting what she wanted from Lizzy, and also talking back to her as if she was her rank, merely became an insult itself!

I thought the Bingleys were adorable.loooool I know i shouldn't say that, but i like their humor and their arrogance towards the Bennets,or mostly to Lizzy.Fumed from core jelousy ofcourse.

For instance this quote from Miss Bingley, after Lizzy gave them a surprise visit after Jane became ill.

"She Has nothing ,in short to recommend her,but being an excellent walker.I shall never forget her appearance this morning,She almost looked Wild.I could Hardly keep my countenance,Very nonsensical to come at all.Why must she be scampering about the country, because her sister has a cold? Her Hair,so untidy,so browsy! Her Petticoat,i hope you saw her petticoat, six inches deep in mud,i am absolutely certain;the gown which had been let down to hide it not doing its office.
I am afraid Mr.Darcy, observed Miss Bingley,in half whisper, that this adventure has rather affected your admiration of her Fine eyes."

"Not at all he replied,"They were brightened by the exercise"

I was such in Laughter to read this,it was Fantastic! loool

I know Elizabeth did defend herself against Lady Catherine but not in the right way..
For instance, when Lady Catherine said,"Miss bennet,I insist on being satisfied.Has he my nephew, made you an offer of marriage?"

Her answer was; "I shall be the last one to confess it....if there is no other objection to my marrying your nephew,I shall certaintly not be kept from it, by knowing that his mother and ount wished him to marry miss De Bourgh.....If Mr.Darcy is neither by honour nor inclination confined to his cousin, why is not he to make another choice? and if I am that choice, why may I not accept him?"

By this,Elizabeth did not give a clear answer as to what really happened...if Lady Catherine made the accusation in the beginning, she would have been very clear of how much she disliked Darcy.
But by now, she was thinking about the possibility of marrying him.....do you agree?

Anyways...We should make our conclusions of this book and move on the next..lool
Let's pick a book that neither one of us has read before and discuss it....

My choice is "The bluest eyes." I don't know the author....it's about a little black girl who wants
very badly to be white..a friend of mine was reading it and said she absolutely loved it......it was also included in Oprah's book club selection...

hey gilrs... are you gone crazy or what? whose idea was it to start with jane austin's books, of all the books in the world. i cant stand its loathsome victorian and old fashioned views. come on! the world has changed a lot and you dont wannna be stuck in an unpleasnt age. you have hit upon a brilliant idea by starting a book club wow!..... and you lost it somewhere in the middle. also i have had enough of literature books. we are not doing exams here, are we?

I am into crime books.... true crimes. they are so compelling and interesting. i like romance. whats your favourite bedtime book.... the one you tend to keep under the pillow.
also since we are all bookish, why not write here a short story ourselves..... its more fun.
