Have you heard about the Somali minister who visited Russia when they were our pals. Salaamu Alaykum Salma, I know what you are going through, cuz I have been there myself.. I was in love with this Arab dude who I knew for a long time.. and I thought that we were going to get married and have a wonderful life together and all would be well.. But that was before I met his family.. Even though, they were the dark skinned arabs they considered themselves better than me just because I'm somali.. Walaahi as long as I live I don't want to go through that pain and confusion again.. I kept envisioning a future with this guy and his family who didn't like me just cuz of my nationality..I really couldn't see myself bringing children into that sort of relationship. I know that he loved me and I loved him, but I don't think it was enough to make up for all that.. So I decided that the best thing to do was to end it. I don't think it was worth my time and energy to be in such a relationship.
I'm glad to say that now I'm engaged to a Somali guy whom I was introduced to by my best friend.. And walaahi I feel so much more secure.. I don't have to worry about anybody judging me based on my nationality or race.. I get along wonderfully with his family..and I love him much more than I loved my arabic friend..We have alot more in common culturally you know.. Its just so much different in some many ways.. I'm not telling you that what's best for me is best for you..But I'm just telling to weigh out your options.. Consider your future..I hope that Allah helps you in these confusing and stressful times.. |
