Brothers and sisters, giving an answer to this

say this: because they forgot their Islamic
teachings & cultural values.

wasalaam aleikum.

(Act what ever you like baby.)

but let me tell you one thing acting like Western
is not some thing that we proud of but if you live
in Western society what should we do? if you can
answer that question then there is chance to avoid

I am a 29 yo Muslim African American male. I had a beautiful friend who was Ethiopian. She had brothers and sisters here older than her. Her brother a couple of years older than she was tried to maintain his Ethiopian heritage, and lifestyle. She told me they used to argue about why he did everything Ethiopian still eventhough he was in America now. When I me ther she told me her name, which was an American nickname for her real Ethiopian name. I said to her, no I want to know your real name, not a nickname. I told her she shouldn't give up who she is just because she is in a different country. It is cool to try to fit in to a degree but don't ignore who you are. Your heritage is a beautiful thing. Being born a Muslim, and African American it has been difficul in this society. Also, being that my ancestors were slaves in the Atlantic slave trade and because of that we lost our original heritage, original names, culture we do not know our lineage. If you are a black person here and aware of that history you can feel lost, or like something is missing. So, to know your lineage is a beautiful thing, a blessing, so to all my Somali breddren as they say in Jamaica don't give up who you are just to fit in. Sure do what is comfortable to get along in society, but disavow who you are....

Peace and luv especially my beautiful sexy Somalian women

RICHGIRL - I am an African American. I am on this site because I found out about it from a couple of Somali friends. I have an international outlook when it comes to people of color on this earth. All of us, either from the States, or any other country are being controlled economically by the same "man", the anglo-saxon/european, US white American. Every nation is trying to get into good graces with the US economy. At the same time this economy is not benefiting the masses of the world. I know this, I see this, so it is not another African, from whatever country, or another African of Carribean decent or American decent that I am at odds with. Therefore, I look at all my breddren of color as my peoples if I get the same respect. Therefore, I have an open mind to be able to get along with a Somali, an Ethiopian, a Nigerian, a Jamaican, another African American, because this problem that we all have faced since colonialism, since slavery is bigger than each of our nationalistic pride. That is why I am on this site on an open network called the Internet, that is why I look at Ethiopian sites, at any site that can give me info on other cultures, and the struggles of others. Besides doesn't Islam teach us to look beyond, and ignore Nationalistic desires and look to a complete and true Muslim brother and sisterhood ?

If you all are that concerned with my ethnicity send me an email and I'll send a photo.

Time Magazine, you want to criticize my writing, you forgot to put a question mark instead of a period at the end of your sentence.

"MB how did you manage to be 29 and not learn to write sensibly." (?)

That is basic English...
