I'll tell you what you achieved. Many of you are multi-lingual, and impressively so. This is a valuable skill in the business world. Many of you have furthered your educations and have acquired new skills. Many of you have saved some cash - valuable investment capital for cottage industries. When the diaspora goes back to Somalia they will bring new talents, new ideas and new connections that will help reinvigorate the Somali economy and society. Have a little faith Sahib, have a little faith. the future of Somalia is bright even though it's hard to see it right now.

MAD MAC

Sunday, October 08, 2000 - 11:13 pm
You know, the other day I decided to get on the Somali chat networks. Of course, I wanted to talk politics and economics. No one wanted to do anything except call each other "Nigga" and talk about sex and try to convince women on the net to link up. Two guys responded to my querries in over one hour and one of them was a women who logged off the second I said I have a girl friend and am gaal anyway. I don't get it. Here the country is still a zoo and no one wants to talk about the challenge of getting Somalia back together again. Anyway, never say die!!!! I still say that a lot of Somalis are acquiring valuable skills and capital while they are in exile, they now need to start thinking about going home and supporting a genuine political process. I'm going back 2004 - wish me luck. white guys stand out there.

No wonder somali women never done anthing for somalia all their histroy..only heared couple women..Dhag Dheer..the Canibble.. and Araweelo the Ball japer.. what is wrong with somali women i wondered what they have inside that big skull of theirs..?????????????????????????????????????

to Nin kayaabay DOQON,
I'm wondering and i'm asking myself, maxaa laga yaabi?
r u sure women didn't achieve much in somalia..
can u look back in ur past and ask yourself, who gave birth to u and took care of u and your male ancestors..was it the british or italian babysister??huh!or was it ur mother?
instead of asking us why are we in another man's land..i answer u with a question, why are you in another land, what don't you initiate the "going back and fixing our land"?
Don't get me wrong, im not attacking you, but im just putting forward my opinions.
And about this topic, ive been reading around in other forumss and many people seem to attack MadMac
however, i see here that he proposed the answer that every somali should have been uttering, instead of being the "biggest pessimists" in the world.
It is true , that a lot of our people got lost in the diaspora ,but another portion of us learned and achieved alot .Try to look at things in an optimistic way my somali brothers and sisters. We could have an influence on those who were lost. we could rebuild our nation . We could stand on our feets again. You know why guys, it's all about time and also one very important fact,
WE ARE SOMALIANS, WE ARE STRONG, WE ARE MUSLIMS,
and inshalah one day we will get there....

It depends what you really mean by achievement.

I have only been here for 7 years and i have achieved a lot. When i first came to this country i spoke no English and as i left somalia when i was only 8 i had no education from there as well only Quran -which came handy. So i came here at the age of 13-started school a year after i came to the country so this mean i had to start everything from scrach. I coudnt communicate with the student nor with the teachers so this kind of encouraged me to work hard. So whenever school was over i would go home straight and learn English as well others things. I have done for three years. Went to college started a business course and three years later i am in University studying BA International Management/Accounting. So Yes some have achieved somethings and i have not changed like some of the teen age girls like myself-when i say changed i mean dressing like the Westernised people etc. It also helps if you have help fro0m your parents , my parents have always supported me in my education.

Mo do not be ridiculous we're not doomed. Every nation has its ups and downs, and if you look deep down inside you you'll know why the somalis are the way they are. But you know what's so cool about us we're very so simple and down to earth that we're not concerned with the stuff we don't have. Somalis are not ambitious this is our weakness as well our strength. How is it our strength I'll leave you to figure that out.

I am making a general observation. Many Somalis have now had the opportunity (misfortune?) of licing in a foreign country and mastering second language or acquiring skills they might not otherwise have had the chance to do. In fact, in your first paragraph you allude to the same. I wasn't talking about you specifically. It was just a general observation.

Time
Well, some people say I'm Mad or Crazy for having anything more to do with Somalis. And my nickname is MAC (derived from my name). So, MAD MAC.

Attention to all those interested.

For every good thing there is a bad. For every bad thing there is a good. So, I am more than happy to say that as a ppl we are not doomed, we have evolved. I have been in the states for 25 of my 29 years alive. I strive to go home to my motherland Somalia. I am educated and make good wages. I strive to go back simply because there is something intangible about somalia that you can't find anywhere else. People who look like you, People who talk like you, people who have the same values like you, your people my people. So to ask are we doomed I say not me, are you?

Mad Mac is overweight no doubt, how can I tell that? well take a look at the forumss he's always posting messages as a matter of fact it's next to impossible to find a discussion without mad mac getting his two cents in......anyway from this I conclude that he spends too much time sitting on his a$$ and typing worthless messages......and from this conclusion I further conclude that he doesn't get up a lot because it's hard for him to.......

Oh Sweetgirl, you underestimate The Mad One. I weigh 123 pounds. I am a recently retired amateur boxer. Sorry to disappoint, but from a physical stand point I look like a well built, short Somali guy. I run a lot. Remember, I'm working in my native language here, which makes it easier for me. I think fast, I type fast and I read fast. So I don't need to spend that much time on this thing. Anyway, I'm not fat. Pretty white though.

MAD MAC is definately small. I mean, how big was Napoleon? He was no giant either. Little Johnny? Does that sound like a vicious animal to you? Somalia aren't going to respect a little Johnny but they might respect a MAD MAC.
