"Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed,

providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and

the statute book. Those of you who witness this month

shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may

substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for

you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your

obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to

express your appreciation."

Dear Anon
Ramadan for the year 1421/2000

Ramadan will begin on November 27, 2000
for most of the United States. For Texas,
Oklahoma and the states located within the
Mountain and Pacific time zone , it will start
on November 26, 2000, God willing. The last day of Ramadan
will be December 25, 2000 for the whole USA. To verify
your state/city first day of Ramadan,, check on the time of the
sunset and the time of the birth of the NEW MOON on the 25
th of November 2000 at this site of the USA Naval
Observatory. If the new moon is born before the sunset you
will fast next morning. http://aa.usno.navy.mil/AA/

To Ali Mohamed:

May peace and the grace of Allah Subxaanah wa tacaalah be upon all of my brothers and sisters.I thank Ali for posting such a thoughtful,caring and yet so important message.

You know my brethren,we spend the whole year doing things,thoughtless acts,saying meaningless things...many times not even being mindful of Allah and if He would approve of what we are doing.Ramadan is a time for us to reach deep inside and search our souls and try to live our lives exactly as our Creator intended us to.Reading the Qur'an and its translation/interpretation can provide so much insight to our lives.We only have to ask God for help...HE NEVER FAILS..IT IS US HUMANS WHO ARE THE INCONSISTENT ONES!!

My dear brothers and sisters I love you all very much.And Allah loves each and everyone of you...please remember never to turn your back on Him...you are not going to be successful in life if you don't seek to find the Truth...for only the TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!!Seek protection in Allah...He is our only PROCTECTOR!Don't become consumed with impressing others...LIVE YOUR LIFE TO IMPRESS THE ONE THAT COUNTS...AL-DUL-JALAALI WAL IKRAAM!!Do your best to learn His beautiful names...perhaps even all 99 of them!

I beseech you all to be steadfast in your prayers(And that includes Salat ul Fajr),be aware of your actions and words,keep your promises,don't be judgemental to those who are not exactly on the right path.Spread the word of Allah in a loving,attractive manner to others in the Dark.Do your best to attend Tarawih prayers they do miracles for your Soul!!Be proud to say to non-muslims that you are fasting because your BEAUTIFUL religion says so...not because you want to lose weight or because you have no CHOICE!...don't trivialize our religion.We are forced to live in a non-believers' world...but we must resist adopting their ways.Don't surrender!

Satan is on their side,BUT ALLAH IS ON OURS!!!

BE STRONG
BE SOULFUL
BE WISE
BE PATIENT
BE CONSIDERATE
BE KIND
BE FORGIVING
BE TRUTHFUL(even when it is not easy)
BE ORIGINAL
BE YOURSELF
BE LOVING
BE FRIENDLY
BE FUNNY
BE OPEN-MINDED
BE HUMAN!!
BE LIEVE!!

May Allah shield you from anguish, pain, lies,doubt,injustice,temptation,greed,and most of all saddness!

Instead may He shower you with joy,laughter,peace and His light to calm your SOUL!

Until next time,peace,love and craziness to you all!

Muna.

AL -HADIITH

Allah's Apostle said, "Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter).
So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting." The Prophet added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake.
The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times."

POEM

No wealth is more useful than intelligence and wisdom;

no solitude is more horrible than when people avoid you on account of your vanity and conceit or when you wrongly consider yourself above everybody to confide and consult;

no eminence is more exalting than piety;

no companion can prove more useful than politeness;

no heritage is better than culture;

no leader is superior to Divine Guidance;

no deal is more profitable than good deeds;

no profit is greater than Divine Reward;

no abstinence is better than to restrain one's mind from doubts (about religion);

no virtue is better than refraining from prohibited deeds;

no knowledge is superior to deep thinking and prudence;

no worship or prayers are more sacred than fulfillment of obligations and duties,

no religious faith is loftier than feeling ashamed of doing wrong and bearing calamities patiently;

no eminence is greater than to adopt humbleness;

no exaltation is superior to knowledge;

nothing is more respectable than forgiveness and forbearance;

no support and defense are stronger than consultation

To me:

May peace and the grace of Allah be upon each and everyone of you. Thanks for the encouragement my dear sis.I meant every word I said up there and I hope that we all succeed in becoming good muslims today and everyday.

To everyone:

Thank you and may Allah forgive all of us...I'm sure that we all have a thing or two we are not proud of having said or done.Repentance is the key my brothers and sisters.And as with everything in life...there's no better way to convey your message than to incorporate LOVE in it!

May Allah constantly guide us to the right path and look down upon us with Approval and not Reprieve!

Take good care of each other people.

Until next time,peace,love and craziness to you all!

London~Sis

Friday, November 17, 2000 - 02:07 pm
Salama Calaykum sisters and brothers.
You know what guys? I'm glad that i come here not just to read some of the jokes but to listen and respond to the conversation.
There are a lotta bad influences going on around me from my fellow pupils and friends. My mum hates me coming to Somalinet because she thinks it's a bad "influence" on me, but she doesn't realise that nearly everything in my life is bad influence. But i think that now i can truly prove my mum wrong because lately i have seen a lotta positive things here like brothers and sisters talking to each other in a respectable manner. And i'm glad to see that if i ever have a problem or worry that i can turn to my brothers and sisters here at Somalinet.
We all face a lotta pressures in our daily lives, and some of us have greater pressures than others. Take the younger generation like i for instance. We have freedom and money and sometimes that can be bad. But todays lifestyle isn't like Somalia where our parents will hear about our bad behaviour or where gossip will get around. I live in London and it's a massive place, i mean i can go where ever i want and they won't even know. But i have to use my parents trust and do good with it. But sometimes i have a lotta doubts about what to do and what not to do. I have a lotta freedom (more than my parents realise) and sometimes when no one knows or remembers what your up to it's easy to make the wrong decisions. Like sometimes i think to myself "why should i wear this scarf? Why shouldn't i wear trousers? Why don't i go to parties?" It's not like my parents tell me to wear a scarf or not to wear trousers it's because i know it's not the right thing to do. And i don't credit my self on this good behaviour because i owe ot to Allah and my religion. But the answer lies in my heart!! I love our religion and i do my best to obey it. But sometimes temptation speaks to me. It's like satan himself is saying to me "look at that girls hair, yours can be like that if you let it out" or "look at that girls beutifull body, you have a beutifull body all you need to do is wear nice clothes". And when i go to the mall i want to buy them, i think about it and i don't. I try my best to seek refuge in Allah, but i don't know sometimes temptation gets too close for comfort. I mean i have to have friends and i have to socialize, it's very hard to say no to my friends as i will be the odd one out of the group or i will spoil the fun and as i hang around with them everyday at collge. But sometimes i know that i gotta do what works for me and my religion not everyone else and their fun.
I have been babbling on but basically i wanna say thanks to everyone for being such good brothers and sisters and for always giving good advice to people. Sometimes we (the younger generation) will be having a bad time with life and may ask you (the older, wiser ones) for advice. It's really nice knowing that theres a community like this around. I truly feel blessed to have such good, religouse and kind brothers and sisters as yourslef.
Salams and peace and love to all!!!!

ASALAMUCALAYKUM TO MYBROTHERS AND SISTERS:

I am really very happy to see my bro's and sis's who are holding tight their religion in the West where there religion become a history. specially those young ones, (like that girl in London ), who get a bad influence in everywhere: the school, in the house, in the streets, posters, movies, you name it, even amongst Somalis.

Well, I have no more to write, but I just want to say you keep obeying your Allah, that is the reason your here in the World. And if you are messed up lately like me, the Ramadaan is best time and you know why? all the "Shaydaans" are behind the bars.

Remember: Qiyaamaha Banka carafo when everyone who ever lived in this world is out there waiting for justice, when the sun is about few meters above your head and you have no cloths on,when....... A person who obeyed his Allah in his/her early ages is one of those who get a shelter that day.
may Allah forgive us for our sins and thus of our parents.

Ramadan is supposed to be a great month for the worship of Allah, but unfortunately most Muslims do not take this as seriously as they should. In many mosques, people want the taraweeh prayer to be short even though they are not sick or physically ill. Many people just fast because they have to, it is a noble thing to do. They come to the Isha prayer and pray a quick taraweeh, but everything else is normal. It seems that people in America are too preoccupied to make proper use of their Ramadan.
