| | Unrecorded Date 3yrs ago, i started smokin' weed and then i went on to drinkin' first, my friend brought to me on my 18th b-day, it was like her birthday gift to me n'mean... then my other homegirl started seeing this dude that sells weed...so we asked him to get us some.Basically, our aim was to get high, it was my second time..unfortunately it was her first time.Then after that..everyweekend we would smoke before we go to clubs,pool, or movies..as long as we weren't home, we even started smoking cigarettes. As for drinkin i started drinkin COolers at the clubs, my homegirl and i thought it was ill, so we went on to Baileys, chardonnays, dry martinis.(basically heavy dosages if you get my drift). now at age 21, going 22 i aint wit that nomore, cuz i was getting wit it all the time. Eventually as the situation progressed my homegirl and i decided it was getting outta hand, and we dont need them thangs...n'mean! we never had accidents, we would sober up before we start the engine..and we never actually took guys wit us. we were no limit soldiers(as we thought). some of my family members drink for pleasure, and it became a NORMAL everyday thang for them and me. As for weed.. first,i wanted to discover what its like, after i done that, i was smoking to release tension and anger, cuz weed makes you relax .n'mean so there!!! thats my story, i also know alot women(25+) not girls who are just startin alcohol. ciao tutti

Cause i tell my friend to stop and they will, until they get to a club and they will not stop drinking. the good thing is you guys know your limit,and as long as you know your limit then you are a save drinker and smoker. thanks for your responds ps I was just like you.

| | Unrecorded Date to Maimuna; Why should one be interested in something that would lead to damaging your brain! Do you know that weed/pot/marijuana kills brain cells? Do you know that the brain cells do not renew themselves? Hence the word "pot-head"! Now you know where that comes from. As for alcohol- there is no such thing as "safe" drinker. When one drinks, he/she looses control. You can not control your behaviour, what you say or who you say it to. When a person drinks, they look and act stupid. Hence the word "drunkard", "boozer"! It is not a compliment. People in the west are realizing the problems with drinking. They are beginning to quit. As a matter of fact the only ones that glorify the "drinking" scene- are the loosers in the inner cities. So why start doing something that is so "passe"! What is "in" is looking healthy, being fit- working-out, eating healthy food! Not doping, drinking and living the night life looking all tired and "grey"!

| | Unrecorded Date Hello Everyone, I am a 23-year old Somali student in Toronto and this is my first time on Somalinet. I am very surprised to see this type of discussion concerning drinkining and drugs etc... Personally, I consider myself muslim but I'm not very strict. I occasionally drink, but I never told any other Somalis about it because I was always afraid it would get back to my family (especially mother) and younger brothers. Anyways, my point is I too drink and like to have a good time (no drugs though). But I always do it with my non-somali friends. Where are all these Somali girls who appear to be laid back. I would like to meet these sisters. Until now, all the somali girls I have met have been extremely religious. Which is good, except I'm not like that. Anyways, is there a club where most Somali's hang out in Toronto. I'm tired of going to clubs and seeing all these white girls. I'm not a junkie or anything. I just want to chill with my people. Only I'm new in this city and I can't find any young somalis my age who like to do the things I like to do. Keep the peace!

All my life i was chilling with non somali girls and boys, I drink and i smoke week sometime. I am not happy about it but i like to have fun and i grow up by having fun when drinking. anyways as you said i am sick and tired of non somali's around me all the time. I once want to find my somali sister and chill with them. Today is friday and i heard that there is a somali party some were in the west and insha alah i am going to check it out.
