Most of us Somali refugees were forced from our country coz of the war that happened in our country. we came to the western countries to try to forget about wat happened to us and start a new a life and do something usefull in our lifes wether to help us in the Dunia or in da Aqiro.
but wat does the somali parents do.
well to start with the fathers, they are so busy to go and get married to another lady although they have 8 or 10 from the first wife, they are so busy with producing babies and their only excuse is 'Allah said in his quran 4 ladies is the maximum number allowed.
As for the mothers they are busy to look good infront of the other ladies show off with the amount of gold they each have, how well their house is decorated and so on.
where does that leave the kids, well the boys end up trying to act like the other black race rob some shops beat up innocent people just to impress their so called mates and forget about their education and about their religion.
the girls end up being mad about their figures how cool they look just to attract the attention of the opposiate sex and leave their culture and traditions behind them.
whose fault is it?? our parents, or us the new genarition.
they say the mother is a whole school if u raise her in a vey good way then have raised up a whole soscity.
so our people take a look at where we are heading as a socity not as an individiual and lets go back to our roots and think of the future that is a head of us.
MAY aLLAH BLESS YOU ALL.

hi Amira,
I think you could not be more right. But I think that Somali people will never change. There were the same (not to generalize) when they were in their homeland. It's just more obvious now that we realize we are different other people. We seen to roam from country to country as if we are in a race to collect all the citizenships we can from all the western countries. I say please come on we need to stay still and make something of ourselves. It may not happened tomorrow, but we show that we goal-oriented and successful people. That will be the only way to stop the stereotypes about us. Finally we need to realize that we cannot all go (some do)back home any time soon.

Hi All
One day you will stop thinking about those
people who don't want to help themselves.
remenber every MAN has the right to decide
his own destiny.
If you realy want to help someone then help yourselves . I know that's sade but hey that's the way to progress as persone and as a community.
Follow the good examples
GOD BLESS

This is what I think of Somali parents, hard working and caring.
I said this because I know Somali families, Somali parent want their kids to the best they can be and they try to do that for them..inshaallahu.....
I love my parants because they have done so much for me... and very child should love his or her parants

hi, i know i am kinda of late but i agree with all of u and i do love my parents! but that is not the point! i live in boston, ma. usa and i hate it...to be honest, at OSCO drug store u will see old somali mens talking about tribes and if a girl walks by, they call the parents of that girl to inform them he\she's daughter was walking up here! and in the other hand, the boys smoke weed, do drungs, sell drugs and mostly some don't even learn but the go to school and do nothing expecting to pass or even graduated! the mother, all they do is talk about tribes or back stap ppl like the somali girls here...what u see ur parents doing u will end up doing it by ur self! The somali boys here gets into fights but they stick up for one another!some are punks and they have the nerve to each others rough tough somalian! at party or any gathering of somalis...there will be a fight and theft and mostly an insults....but if they know u...they won't say anything to u! the somali father will rather be at osco or at home eating jaad then helping his son or daughter with homework! the mother would rather be at merriage dancing around and talking about other family's children then help her daughter or son with anything! some boys would rather be anywhere like parties than doing homework or selling drugs! There is one fact 5\4 are girls in college than boys. there more girls doing thing straight than boys in here but there some that do straight things. there one somali kid, he is still a freshmen in high school when i was in 10 grade, he still is in high school, a freshmen and i am freshmen in college! i think it both the parents and the children fault because the parents should parents because they brough them in this world and should let the kids egknowledge that they will be there for them!

FIRST OF ALL I'D LIKE TO SAY HELLO TO ALL OF YOUR.
SECONDLY I WANT TO SAY THAT I AGREE WITH MOST OF YOU.
TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE SOME OF YOU HAVE SOME ISSUES TO DEAL WITH YOURSELVES. BECAUSE YOU ONLY TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU SEE AND JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE BY IT.
JUST BECAUSE YOU SEE COUPLE OF WRONG PEOPLE YOU SHOULDN'T THINK THE WHOLE SOMALI POPULATION IS WRONG.
TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE YOU WANT TO CHANGE AND RATHER BE SOMETHING ELSE THAN BE A SOMALI BECAUSE IF YOU CRITICIZE WHAT YOU ARE THEN YOU WANT TO BE SOMETHING ELSE. SO DON'T TALK ABOUT PEOPLE CHANGING WHEN YOUR THE ONE THAT WANT'S TO CHANGE.

PEACE!!!

i agree with the 1st anonymous i mean our parents teach us the difference from rite and wrong but at the end of the day we have the choice to either go in the rite direction or be misguided...
for the 2nd anonymous come on nothing is wrong with admiting our faults...after all we r only human...but if we can all change our faults instead of ignoring them cause in the long run its just gonna be a benefit for us

Dear, Brother and Sisters.
It is my pleasure to talk to you all. So how u all doing? well I am doing great. I read the some of the messages and I guess we all fighting don;t why and some of us are wrong n some are right, Anyway we need to change the subject and talk about something important especially education, so that we can learn one another. coz some of us are educated am I right???
Again it has been a pleasure serving you my opining. Now, it is time for a new topic to take over. I would encourage all of us to help them out and get involved with a good deed whenever possible. This is our organization and it is our responsibility to make sure the our religion is being displayed in the best possible way.

May Allah Bless you all...

A. i agree w/ u on what your talking about a little
B. you kinda generalized all the somalian parents . not all dads are toobusy having babies and not all moms spend their time showing off their stuff.
C. but yeah i have seen some situations like dat.
back in somalia parents didn't worry about their son getting some gurl pregnant or their daughters going buck wild. so parents have to realize we are in a whole new culture and we are exposed to some things our parents have not heard of yet
lyke having a b/f or g/f. so parents have to wake up and kids gotta realize their roots of being muslim and holding on to da somalian culture
peace my beautiful
somalian people.
love yall
