First do you know all the people regardles of gender, race, creed or nationl origin have exactly the same number of hours in a week? Let them know that you can help them only if you get a high paying job, and you will get this only if you have a degree and something else that can achieve your goal. Some of our families don't undrestand the importance of education, and they only see some Dollars we send them each months without thinking how we earned that money. The people in Africa think that we in America can get money easily and they don't want us to go to college or university. As you know brother, doing a work here without a knowledge or skill is difficult and we are always treated like slaves. Talk to your family politely and tell them everything in detail, and also try to get a part time job and help them sometimes. | | Wednesday, January 24, 2001 - 05:34 pm TO: Wacays It is my pleasure to forward you any information that could be helpful in your search to continue your higher education. Since, you didn’t mention what school you are currently attending or what type of program your enrolled as far as Certificate or Associated degree is concern. I would have to assume general counseling for your case. My first advice is since you are in your early stages of your education make sure you become familiar with the required courses for you to transfer later on as a credit to any four year institutions you might chose. Why is this important? Because most school could have policies that would not recognize some of your course as a transferable credit. I have seen this happen to many students who thought otherwise. My second advice to you is take your general requirements out of the way first before you jump to your required courses. This is helpful incase you change your mind later on. For Computer science or Computer engineering you would have to take a lot of math and physics classes for your generals. You would also need to take your humanities and some social sciences out of the way. My third advice to you is make sure you contact your adviser and do your research to find out what transfers to your desire four-year institution a lot of two-year colleges have catalogs that would tell you if their classes are transferable to your desired institution. This will help you take your courses accordingly and will safe you a lot of time in the end. Finally, University of St.Thomas has good programs in both business and computer science aspect. I would advise you to also take a look at University of Minnesota, which also has a good IT/Engineering programs. Please be advised that the cost of both of these institutions are enormous and of course if you are out of state the cost is even more. Please let me know where you are located and your current program, perhaps I would find you a suitable university with your desire degree and check your transferable credits. I am happy that the present youths wish to correct mistakes done by our forefathers in leaving our people in the hands of the Ethipians for almost a centry now. To some extent Mohamed Abdille Hassan and Adan Gurey have helped but the rest have been of little use. I hate politics but the injustice done to our people (not only in Ogadenia) sometimes suprises me. Its time we all think of liberating Ogadenia with the use of pen and paper and the web for that matter. I know Ethiopians and the Kufars hate us. They help others as you have seen in Kismayo and Ogadenia in particular however we are peaceloving. We are peace loving becoz those in Kenya have to shown that we can coexist with others if there is no exploitation. What i mean is that even though I was born is Kismayo, and have some relatives in Ogadenia, I cannot be safe in either. Its time we come up with politicians who ready to take their share in Somalia and use their influence to liberate Somalia. I am a dreamer of greater somalia if it mean equality and justice. I am glad that we all (ogaden Ppl) understand the situation of our ogaden land and willing to do something useful for our ppl. I knew that education is the key to open and continue our struggle to win our freedom from these selfish Ethiopians which we will soon. I just wanna say one more thing; while we are learning and enhancing our future,at the same time we have help our fighters (ONLF) to win our land. Onlf has office in some places so lets go there and help them in anyway that we can. Do some volunteer work or help them economicely. If u don't have an office in where ulive then create organization where u meet once or twice monthly to talk about our struggle. One more thing I am student in mn, Usa and its my first year. I would like to ask u questions for those who have been studying computer science, Bussiness administration or gnycology. I am in between those majors and i don't know which to choose. i really appreciate your comments which can facilitate me to take classes next year toward my major thanks

I have one question for the brothers/sisters who are in USA what happened to you guys? don't u guys know we need some people to go to higher education and help our people. don't u guys know our hospitals need some doctors, our children are out of school because the lack of teachers who have higher education. as i heard most of ogaden youngesters who live in the states don't go to schools, all what they do is work, work, what happened to you guys? how do you guys feel when you remember the Qabridaher, Godey Dagahabur, wardhere etc hospitals.... and you don't find any Ogaden Doctor in the hospital, or how do you feel those habishi teachers beating our kiddis claiming they are teaching. most of the teachers are Habishi, the ogaden teachers teach only from grade 1-6. aren't you guys are some people who think. why don't you guys go to schools instead of going to work, or at least do some part time studying. don't you guys know work is short term and education is long term. don't you know education is gonna pay for you. why don't you just spend a couple of years. Don't you guys know college or university life is fun.. please think and don't below your apportunities, now you have time, do what you can do before it gets too late. Now i go to a college and i don't see ogaden bro/sis, that really drives me nuts. you see a hell of Hawiya brothers/sister, Dhulbahante, Isaq, marehan uncountbel, but not Ogadens, eventhough they are my brothers/sister, still i need someone closer than somali. people wake up, the money you are sending to your famely won't last that much but the education will stay as long as you live and willing to to provide to the people who need it so badly. even if you go back home a couple of months for volunteering it will make a lot of diffirence. Faiza sister i would suggest you to go to Computer sceince. cuz the century we are in now is a tech century. Don't think it is hard, it is not as hard as people think. if some one can do it so can you. i would suggest you this, go to the college or university the one u want to go ask them their requirments, what they teach for the first semester, if you understood what is going for the first semester the following semesters will be easier. befor you make any decision take your time spend some time with your counsilar in your school and ask them what courses to take before you heading to the college or university. every c/u has informations sessions attend those informations sessions and ask every question you have in your mind, that why they are there to answer the question. don't be scare to ask, i know alot people do. for example if they teach Caculus in the college for the first semester then take calculus in the high school, if they teach some programming in the college take some progrmming courses in the high school such as VB programming, VB Database programming, squ,access,exel etc. be prepare befor you get into the higher education. then everthing will be easeir. i hope i make some sense

It is a comment to see students changing majors twice in their first year of school alone. I am glad your are speaking out and seeking advises because if you don’t and end up changing majors it will cost you both time and money. I read some of your considered majors are Business Administration, Computer Science and Gynecology. Even thought I like all of these majors, but you will eventually have to chose one. I would advise you to create criteria that would help you better evaluate your choices like. 1. Personal interest: which field would I mostly enjoy studying. Be real and don’t pick a field that you are not fit for. For example, if you don’t like math stay away from computer science. 2. Cost: How much is it going to cost me to study this field? 3. Time: What is the estimate time of completion for these fields? For example Studying Medicine and Law requires additional commitment and therefore is lengthier than other areas. 4. What is the outcome of my chosen field? Some areas are more employable then others. Would I be able to find a job after completing my degree? I would personally advise you to target your general requirement out of the way first because by then you will be in your second year of college and you have being expose to a lot of subject that will help you determine your area of interest.

You would still have to take some programming classes to get familier with but you don't necessary get into more detailed. Take Indhacaro's advise and be patient with everything you do in life.
