Hi. My question is, why does everyone who live in Africa, Asia and even Europe wants to live in the US? I just don't get it. I've been in US once. And I couln't see the big difference. What does USA have that other countries like UK and Scandinavia don't?? I really appreciate if someone gave me a probably answer. And by the way, I've big respect for my brother & sisters in the States...

To Westcoastnigger: Then we're both in the same boat. I live in UK and I enjoy to be there. I think that ppl have heard that US got this and US got that, then suddenly they're dissapeared. But, basically, What does US have???? Do you live in US?? What do you say??
To Cali: I think you got some issues there. How is the education system in US? I've heard people pay for college and university. Is that right??Do you live in USA. You said we've a better life here in Europe. How is the life in USA??

This is my opinion! I've lived in many countries (inclunding US) and I ended up living in Finland. I think that Scandinavia offers the best chances to everyone to education etc. |

Waan idin salaamay. To answer your question Dane, " Why everyone wants to immigrate and live in America and you don't know why?" well let me give you my opinion. As they call America, "the land of freedom" or the "New World" It is been known that so many Immigrants left their home lands, and some are still trying to do the same to go to America because of dreams; a dreams of freedom. A freedom that they don't have or lost in their homelands. freedom of speech, freedom of religion and so on. Some leave their homelands and go to America because of political prosecution they face from their governments. Some others go to America because of being refugees, and don't have a home or place to live and be save, like many Somalis you know whom are living in America now. Once you make the shores of the America and able to live there legally, the rest is history. There is no fear of some military guy is gonna break in to your house in the middle of the night and take you away from your family and friends. There you can sleep at night and don't have to worry. In America everyone has a rights, no matter who you are, what color of skin, what clan, religion, or origin. You are counted as a human being and life is respected. If you want to do something for yourself and have a good future, there are many opportunities. if you want to have a good education you can find the best colleges and universities. If you are strong and able to work hard the rewards are unthinkable. If you want to go in to your own business no body is gonna tell you that you need a permission from the president or some clan who is related to the president. I can go on and on. Many people who come to America feel lucky and enjoy the lives they made there including me and the stories they tell make many people to follow and share what they have. "freedom" |

1}Freedom of religion,speech, etc
2)Opportunity: the USA is the land of Opportunity.
I have this friend from Eritrea living in USA. We met years ago when he was a refugee. He never finished highschool and now he is a millionaire. A simple man who got a good opportunity without education makes millions. There are poor ghetto blacks teens who are uneducated and criminal minded. They make millions on music, sports and other forms of commere(designer clothing). This cant be done in any European country. If I am wrong plz let me know

First to my bros/sistas who gave their opinion, I leave in US and are we talking about US or fantasy. Alhamdu-LILLAH I am fortunate to have reasonably good life, I do strongly disagree with you your positive opinion of USA - land of opportunity, freedom, etc.. I can swear to ALLAH that you simply read from somewhere. Give us your personal experience and freedom you talking about. About military or guns, it is scarier than Somalia I would say. Freedom?? Do you think you can say what ever you want, try it and I assure you I contribute your bail.
Here is my opinion, and please don't get me wrong they are just my opinion and have facts. 1) Education - Europe has more chances than USA because most of Europe you can get a free education. 2) Jobs - America has more ordinary jobs than Europe, but in professional level, Western Europe is not much different (taxes might give advantage from one place to the other). 3) Racism - America is the WORST in the face of the earth, next is Australia and Nzland. 4) Religion - America is no different than Europe or the rest of the world. 5) Family (I have no family) Europe is much better than USA, Canada is also good one to have family in it. 6) Uncle Sam (bustard) - does not exist anywhere else in the world only in USA.
In conclusion - USA is a place where many dream of but dream is not reality and has modernized slavery (right now). However, is a place we can wait until our country gets better and we can go back and earn our daily lives.
DANE - be good to where you are and make it the best of it and wish you good luck dude.
I would say - lets make our home (real home) better place to leave and fight mentally with the 50-60 year old gangs in there.
Brother who is very cautious and doesn't forget about the reality.

There has been a lot of comments about this subjects. After my opinion Somalia is the place, of course. But if I had to chose between Europe & America, I would definitely have chosen Europe. I've been in America once, and it's the worst place on the earth. You see Somali Crack heads, Somali Harlots, Somali Gays, Somali-wana be drug dealers and all sort of crazy things. You also see Somali Gang with earings on his left ear, Somali Girl entering the abortion Center, Somali Girls turning to lesbianism. I can write million of things which I have seen when I was there. So therefore I'm gonna nominate US as the hell on the earth. 80% will probably give me right, right??

I went to Europe after first living in the US and man was I shocked!!! In Europe, the concepts of 'convience' and 'customer service' do not exist. Europeans are close minded to anything that does not have a 'historical value to it'and while they envy everything Americana will never openly admit thier desire to emulate anything that is American.
Boring place, mediocre entertainment, american wannabe bands, decent resturants don't serve food after 9pm, Communications system is horrible and slow. Everything is under monoply of the state or 1 or 2 partial owned state companies, hence there is no variety of services; everything is either take it or leave it. Service-industry workers are rude (huge lack of customer service experience)
Darn, Africa is a better place to live than Europe. At least, one doesn't expect the same kind of service in America. But in Africa, if you got the money, one lives like a king all services inclusive. I am moving to Swaiziland in the fall and live like a princess  |

I got your point there, sis. But let me ask you, which country were you in? Cuz it ain't Scandinavia. Denmark, Norway, Finland & Sweden is the 3 best countries in Europe. They got it all. You might have been in Germany or The Netherlands, right? You get more paid in Norway than you do in America, and I got witness of that. A friend of mine moved from Norway to America, and he was totally shocked over the paid. Denmark has the best houses in Europe, and they got also got better houses than America. If you're a family in Denmark, you'll at least get a 4-bedroom house. Nevertheless, if you're single you'll get a 2-bedroom house. Personally, We had a 5-bedroom house in Denmark. And when my cousin from US came he was surprised over that we had such a big house. And it's exactly the same in the 3 other countries. Sweden is the richest country in Scandinavia- But the communities, the school system, the life, the language and the people is the same, or I'll rather say similar. So for me, The best place to live out of Africa is Scandinavia & Switzerland

I think the reason why so many people, who are from different parts of the world come to or wanting to come to U S, is probably what they hear from the media.
Although i think U S has been a great experience, with its ups and downs. I still think that people live in Somalia or anywhere else and have peace in their home land should never come to this country because, it's not what you hear from the media once you put your feet on this land, but what you see in your own eyes that counts. And believe me i have seen enough to wanting to go back if i only have a save place to go. |

I think everybody like US, because they hear from Somali people that it is the place to be. And it has also something to do with the media. I live here in US, and I would say that the place is hell.
