     | Wednesday, October 18, 2000 - 07:03 am I just want to now why is it avery time i came across a somali girl she gives me a funy look.When i see a somalian sis i usually feel hapy and the secand she cames near they always came out with this look.Its fine for them not to say hi cuz they don't now you but they stear at you all i don't get that please ppl make understand whats up what that. I think as somalians ppl should be nice to each other at least.

I fell sometimes that somali girls feel uncomfortable with other sistas am not sure if u agree but thats what i belive. Check this i'd be walking down the street minding my own buss. u c a sista n think about saying hello couse thats ur sista .. and what do u get one nasty look- like u is her worst enemy or something. At my uni, there about 5 sisters n none of them even say hello, the brothers r sweet they come n chat to u like ur their sista n they all get along with each other. The sistas its whole different game show.... why is that-is there away of breaking this nasty tradition?

| | Monday, October 23, 2000 - 07:44 am Exdane I get ur point walaalo, i remember when i first came to the uk about 10 years agao u would have complete strangers literally running up to and saying hello walaalo how ya doing ( simply coz the recognised to be somali) it was a great feeling 4 real. The situtaion is now totally different, somalis hate each other n why i don't know. u c the how the turks and the ethiopians get along like one big happy family. And to be honest with u bro it makes me jealous and mad at my somali sistas n brothers. but esp. the sisters. Its not the same with the brothers. I mean from my experiences brothers always get along with each other (even if they don't like each other). And maybe i am just being naive but the brothers are so much sweeter then the sisters. I know that if i ever get into a bad situation i can depend on a somali brother even if don't know him. My q is is there hope??

| | Thursday, November 02, 2000 - 08:45 am HI PEOPLE!! AND BIG UP TO THE SISTA IN THE HOUSE!! MY UPMOST RESPECT AND APPRICIATION FOR BRING THIS LITTLE NASTY PROBLEM TO THE FORUM. Am a somali sister from a tinny winny country in central africa. I born there and lived there most of my life until a few years back when i had to come to the uk. I used to live in a country where somali people really loved each other, even during the war. Everyone from almost all the tribes used to hadle up together to keep warm and lesson to the BBC! lol when ever u would cross a street , someone would always say hi even if u wouldn't know the person, whether it being a girl or boy. If something ran out at home, u would go next do and get some from them... from the stories i heard from my parents , it was the same thing in somali i gather.... But Almost immediately after i got here i noticed the hostility between our sista. Don't get me wrong but where i come from , even if u don't know a sista or brother i have to say hi or something even a smile. U don't have to know the person. Its just a somali thing i guess. The reason i think sistas don't like eachother is cuz the are dead jealous! Especially if u look good , the hate u even more! hallloowww! the sista can't help it if she can aford it and u can't! Its not only that, even when u are walking with a cute dude who might be your brother (for real..lol) they throw dagers at u! why? I feel really sad for them sometimes....... Why envy someone when u can do ten times more than that person....... Somali sista out there throwing dagers.... TRY TO LOVE AND APPRICIATE YOURSELF then maybe society won't notice your hostility... am out..... a girl from nw london who is very concerned

But u know what sisters i can sympathise with u guys cause i have seen it happen even though iam a guy cause u know why _ somalis don`t like to see diferent people or strangers especially in london. They feel for some reason u are a threat. Like N.W girl i grew in up central africa and came to study in london and whenever girls or guys see me vibing a somali girl or walking with a girl in the street or at a party - they would give me and her this pitifull look. The other reason is that u girls must be so pretty yet u must not realize that fact -but they may be just plain playa hatting. My advivce to u is that ignore them for their ignorance cause if they only got to know u they would get to see this side of u which is beautiful. To all my somali sisters in london- much respect -cause u guys are the most sensitive and wholesome somali girls i have ever seen.
