It is shocking to read the statements made by what I hope to be "adults" about a very important topic upon which the very existence of Somalia very much depends. I am afraid it is a bad reflection on the rest of us (myself included) if we don't do something about this sorry situation. Shall we please start a healthy discussion on the best way to bring up a complete human-being, who will not only contribute to the restoration of our dignity and humanity but live up to the expectations laid down in our religion. I would leave the experts to handle this important subject.

Anonymous and to the rest who write Somalian, there is nothing called Somalian, that is incorrect.
It is Somali
The people are Somali and the language is Somali.
It always surprises me when, Somalis refer to themselves as Somalian......do your research people, there is nothing called Somalian.
It is SOMALI.
Foreigners who lack knowledge about the Somalis and Somalia use that term.
Please Somalis we are Somali not Somalian okay!!!! If you aspire to educate the children, do it the right way.

I SAY WE EDUCATE THE CHILDREN THE ISLAMIC WAY.
I would also like to add that not everything in the west is bad, its for as to take that is good and leave behind the bad, that might seem a hard thing to do but with the guidens of our holy quran we can do anything

Education is not only important to our children but also to our self. Later in the future you will relaise there is no way out and your struggling with thing whatever they way by. So do something decent with your life before it's too late. That's my advice to the people that are wasting there lives.

salaam to all my muslim friends.
i agree with u all. and the person who said eduction is the key to everything is ever ever right. somalian people the word we need to learn is eduction and find more about it and then think about it and then do something about it. educate yourself then you will learn how important education is. and then you can help your child with his homework and tell him education and is why we are in this country. and when we go back to our great country we can help the other to learn what we learn from the other countries.

Hadaad rabto inaad caruur wax bartaan ama aad rabtaan inaad role model u noqotaan, idinka iska bilaaba.
Marka hore afkiina hooyo ku ahaada waxaad ku faantaan. hadaad idinkii waaweynaa ku hadli karin ama aydaan isticmaaleyn afkiina hooyo, sidee baad uga filisaan caruurtiinu inay ku hadasho.
wax barashada waxay ka bilaabataa, alpha beteda sow maaha? ka dibna way sii dhaadhacdaa.
Hadaba intaydan caruur maskaxdooda kobciskeeda bilaaban, bal idinku dib isugu noqda oo isa saxa.
afkiina hooyana ka bilaaba inaan caruurta bartaan, ka dibna waxyaabaha kale bartaan.
Nabadeey

Gabadh Somaliyeed, you are absolutely right. If I was able to write this little bit that I am saying now in Somali, I would, but I can't. Unfortunately, Somali's are so eager to teach their children English, that completely overlook that they lost their Somali language and culture. But I do need to state that the first thing that we need to teach ourselves is our deen, Islam. Unless we understand what Allah (SWT) expects from us and the knowledge to fulfill those expectations, we are truely ignorant.
Does anyone know of a web site or a place that I can get books from to improve my Somali? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
