Ikram | Unrecorded Date ASLAMA LAYKUM. This an article which i found it to be very valuable which some of us (somalies do not practice) It is by Iqbal Ahmad Azami: The first principle is humility about oneself and consideration for the other person .In the matter of visiting the homes of others, this principle is expressed by honouring the privacy of the person visited and by remembering that he or she has the perfect right to refuse to let you in. so,the visitor should stand to one side of the entrance of the house and give the greeting.he may, after that ask for permission to enter. It is clearly stated that if, after the third asking, permission is not granted, the visitor should leave. Soimportant is it to give proper notice to the people inside a house, that a muslim is advised, even when entering his own home, to give the greeting clearly and so, as it were, announce himself. It is never courteous to burst in on people. Once inside, it is good manners for the muslim to greet all persons in the house and ask after their good health. The visitor should not touch anything without the owner's permission. And he should ask permission before leaving the house at the end of the visit. If, during the visit, the host asks for help in any matter, the visitor should do his best to oblige. One day the Blessed Prophet called at the house of SA'D BIN 'UBADA, one of his Companions. He stood to one side of the door, and greeted SA'D responded to the greeting but in a very low voice and from inside the house. QAIS, SA'D'S son, saw that the Blessed Prophet was at the door and asked his father to call him in . But SA'D asked his son to keep quiet so that the Blessed PROPHET would greet him again. He said that the Blessed Prophet would greet him again. He said that a greeting from the Blessed Prophet was great blessing. The Prophet then greeting him again and Sa'd again replied gently. The Blessed Prophet then greeted him for a third time and again Sa'd replied as before. After a third salutation the Blessed Prophet turned to leave, but Sa'd ran after him and sais: 'O Messenger of God! MY very life is pledged for you. I heard your greetings but wanted to hear the prayers (peace be upon you and God's mercy) from your lips. It is the greatest blessing for us and therefore I committed this act of arrogance. Kindly forgive me and grace my house.' The Blessed Prophet entered the house and, because it was a hot summer's day, Sa'd invited him to take a bath. S'ad then presented the Blessed Prophet with a safron robe, and the Blessed Prophet prayed for prosperity and blessing on his host. Then Sa'd served food to him. After the meal, the Blesses Prophet made ready to leave and Sa'd offered his horse and put a red sheet on its back. He then instructed his son to accompany the Blessed Prophet and they set off with Qais walking by the side of the horse. After a short distance the Blessed Prophet invited Qais to ride on the horse but Qais begged to be excused. The Blessed Prophet then asked Qais to return home and, after saluting the Blessed Prophet, Qais did so. May Allah help us to practice our religion. Amiin |
