NAIROBI, 22 November (IRIN) - The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry described the establishment of the Somali transitional government as a "major achievement", but said the process was incomplete. In a statement released on Monday, the Ethiopian government said the peace process needed to be completed by bringing in Somali parties that did not participate at the Djibouti-hosted peace talks, where the new government was elected in August.

The statement said that the Somali president had given assurances that the transitional government would do everything possible to remove "all elements" that use Somali territory as a springboard to threaten regional peace and stability. It said Hassan had also given assurances during the talks that the new government would, in the area of security, cooperate with neighbouring countries. Interim Somali President Abdiqassim Salad Hassan was in Ethiopia last week where he met with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and other senior Ethiopian officials. The talks follow uneasy relations between Ethiopia and the new government after Hassan's inauguration, diplomatic sources told IRIN.

This is another tactic of divide and rule by the WAYANA minority. I knew that when Mr. Hassan visited Ethopia nothing good would come out becasue WAYANA's are not sincere in negotiating peace with our President. It was a good move, but to no avail. It is time that Somali people realize we have no friend anywhere in the world and we better come to terms to forgive each other and rebuild our country. We will Insha'allah reach peace and tranquility very soon. Ethopia is heading where we been very soon. I am not worried at all. The Ethopian people are fed up
