H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayid Al-Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates tonight warmly received at his residence in Abu Dhabi H.E. Mr. Ismail Mohamoud Hurreh (BUBA),the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somalia and the accompanying delegation.
During the meeting,the Somali Foreign Minister handed over to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan a written message sent by H.E. Dr. Abdiqassim Salad Hassan,President of the Republic of Somalia which was addressed to H.H. Sheikh Zayid Bin Suldan Al-Nahyan,President of the United Arab Emirates.
The Minister also briefed H.H. Sheikh Hamdan about the current situation and the efforts of the interim government in securing financial assistance for rebuilding the devastated country as well as establishing peace and security through the process of making the armed militias surrunder their weapons in-exchange for vocational training, food, cash and permanent jobs.
On President Qassim's behalf, the Foreign Minister also congratulated on Sheikh Zayid's safe return to the Country after under-going a successful operation abroad , praising the role of the UAE people under the leadership of Sheikh Zayid in supporting the restoration of peace and stability in Somalia.
The Somali Foreign Minister who arrived in Abu Dhabi last night,the 9th of December 2000, was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Hassan Abshir Farah, the Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources and H.E. Ambassador Mohamed A. Warsame (kimiko) the Presidential Advisor .
They were warmly received by a very high ranking Protocol Official of the Foreign Ministry and H.E. Mr. Hussein M. Bullaleh ,the Somali Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Hussein M. Mohamed, the Counsellor of the Somali Embassy in Abu Dhabi and other diplomatic officials from both the Embassy and the Consulate.
Early morning today , H.E. Mr. Ismail Mohamoud Hurreh (BUBA),the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somalia and the accompanying delegation left for Sharjah in route to Mogadishu and was seen off by Mr. Hussein M. Bullaleh ,the Somali Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates. |
