I am also equally disappointed the inexcusable silence of the Somali Media (Somalinet.com, SomaliaInter.com, Hiiraan.com, Benadir.com, Arlaadin.com) about the jailed Journalists in Bay and Puntland, the closing of businesses specially the media and Xawaalad. This is a vivid crime that had been committed by the dictatorial thugs of RRA & PUNTLAND. If the RRA& Puntland Authorities is annoyed by these small private news papers criticism, then it will be troublesome to tolerate when multi parties are established and the nature of their strong criticism is forwarded. In short the wrong measure for jailing the journalists had created anxiety and sadness among our people inside and abroad. There is nothing than we can say more than enough and we demand to the RRA and Puntland authorities to shoulder the responsibility to those who took this unstudied action that demoted the price and dignity of free press and free enterprise. This occurrence is the action of hiding the truth to come-out. How else can we explain the actions taken by Shaargaduud to cut-off the communications of BAY from the rest of the world? How else can we explain the closing of news paper offices in Puntland? I know their cohorts who does not understand what the freedom means will jump up and say, because of security and defense of the region this was necessary! How wrong this is. Shaarguduud is massacring his own people RAXANWEYN who show opposition to his agenda while Abdullahi Yusuf is clearing the way for his re-election and that is exactly what dictatorship is; to silence anything that is contrary to your vision and scope of things. How do we found out the suffering of the people of BAY in 1990’s isn’t it the MEDIA and the free press of the west. How do we found out the floods in Puntland isn’t it the media. I ask all the free loving people of Somalia to pay special attention such as these crimes. We have to save guard the free press and free enterprise of the Somali people where-ever they may be. It is a fundamental right that neither Shaargaduud nor Abdullahi Yusuf can take from us. I ask all Somali media to at least have a second though about the events that are taking place in Somalia. Because I know for fact that your first thought will be based on your Qabiil, so the second thought is necessary because it might bring your objective side. Somalia has experienced very repressive regime that do not take care of its citizens and was very brutal and dictatorial. The only way we could establish free society and government or authority that serves its people is to let the free press and free enterprise loose and keep away from government/authority intervention. This is the only road we can correct the government/authority to become one that serves its people not its leader. I am very much afraid that we descend to another dictatorship if the media remain so silent about these very basic principles of freedom because we always look things from tribal side not from what the actions of the tribal leader leads to.
