(Nasdaq: IWAV), a pioneer in the wireless network industry, today announced it has been selected by Somalian mobile telecommunications operator, Barakaat Telecommunications Co., as a turnkey supplier of GSM network equipment and services to expand Barakaat's existing GSM Network.
Barakaat will expand to 40 service areas, including cities, towns and districts, using interWAVE's unique Modular GSM Network solution. This expansion will provide coverage for up to 70 percent of Somalia's population. With this contract, interWAVE remains the sole GSM supplier to Barakaat.
interWAVE's networking approach is designed around a creative business model which gives GSM operators the ability to introduce greater numbers of initial target markets under limited capital expenditure budgets. Critical emerging markets require local switching, and given that approximately 80 percent of traffic remains local, interWAVE's distributed switching solution will provide this service.

Air Somalia, A Newly Created Airline, Started Its Flight in the Country
for the First Time
(HornAfrik) Mogadishu - The first plane owned by a Somali company, Air Somalia has landed today at Balidogleh Airport 90 KM west of Mogadishu.
Speaking at an inauguration ceremony held at Balidogleh, the Minister of the
Air and Land Transport, Abdi Guled Mohamed, pointed out that the government
will encourage the privatization of social sectors, adding that he hoped Air
Somalia would render services of great importance for the public.
Captain Sergey Zakrevsky and Navigator Ivan Sokoly, Russians working with
Air Somalia told HornAfrik that they are pleased to work in Somalia for the first
time, and hoped that all will go as planned.
Also speaking at the occasion the new head of Air Somalia, Ali Farah
Abdulleh, pledged that his company would extend its services to whole the
