Badhan | Wednesday, February 28, 2001 - 06:30 am Some of the arguments that many of President Yusuf's adversaries use in order to discredit him are including, he is a soldier, he loves to rule and he is not fit to govern due to bad health. When one carefully examines each one of these, one will find out that they're absolutely base less. Take for example the first one which is he is a soldier. The president was a decorated military officer and a war hero, and I'm sure that those of you who have any military back- ground would agree with me that there is a great deal of difference between an officer and a soldier. An officer is someone who is trained for leadership and decision making, while a soldier is, primarily someone who follows orders regardless of right and wrong. Also they failed to realize that the best and brightest leaders that the world has ever produced were indeed successful military generals, and in many countries such as the USA, Israel one must have extensive military knowledge if one ever wants to be a leader The argument that says he loves to rule doesn't make any sense either, because in reality what these people are saying is the president loves his job and what he does. In fact passion and determination are what makes us to succeed in live. One can never be good at something that one does not enjoy doing it, after all, the man was elected by his people and no one denies that. I wonder if these folks would rather have as a leader some guy who has several different passports and businesses in different countries who would undoubtedly abandon them when things get difficult or don't go his way. . The president is unhealthy doesn't wash either, because the government of Puntiland records show that he never canceled or postponed any important meeting and as a matter of truth he still conducts what I call ‘marathon sessions' that run from 5am to midnight. So, the only logical explanation to this is either the president is the toughest man that God ever created or he is just feeling well, and I believe the later one is accurate. I'm only hear to defend the office not necessarily the the president |
