In a bid to beef up security in the capital city Mogadishu, police forces started last night patrolling the city’s main roads, which frequently haunted by militiamen.

The police forces were equipped with battlewagons and were in uniforms. This follows an appeal of the President of the Transitional Government who publicly pledged that security in the city would fully be maintained.

On the other hand, 31 prisoners who were previously been detained in police stations were transferred to the Mogadishu Central Jail. These people who were accused different crimes, all of them felony, are the first prisoners accepted by the jail since its opening three weeks ago. (HornAfrik).
