Do you see a future for Somalia?
I don't until Hawiye are able to carry a gun. Look at Atto and Aided, they exported the copper water pipes of Mogadishu to East Africa and Arabia and yet they are fighting to rule the country. What is there to fight for? Nothing.
When I was a boy I used to hear people say the Marehan are bad, ignorant and similar words. Of course they were not good otherwise the civil would not have happened but what is more astonishing to me are the people who took over the power from Marehan. I did not know Habergedir at that time but now I know what sort of people they are. I will leave history to judge them.
But the question I want its answer is "Will there ever be a government in Somalia?"
As far as I see there are five major obstacles:
1. Every one of the warlords wants to be president and a country can only have one, not two or three.
2. Whole tribes have left their regions and took over by force other people's houses and farms. Is it possible to persuade these people to go back to their places, I do not think so. I see this is why Heberdegir can not be happy with any lawful government.
3. The armed militias are loyal to their tribes and clans and they would stand by if the interests of their clans are infringed even if this is the interest of the nation.
4. The four major groups: Darood, Hawiye, Digil-Mirifle and Issak do not trust each other.
5. The country is so poor in terms of natural resources that there is no enough food go around.
