     | Wednesday, November 08, 2000 - 02:02 pm hi all Just on a quest to meet some like minded Somali ppl for a change. That is, young, Prof, aspired, ambitious and mature individuals. No I'm not looking for a mate. I'm a business consultant in London but travel all over the world. I'm a member of a number of 'organizations' and have noticed that I never - yes NEVER - come into contact with other Prof. Somalis at these events. I'm sure there are many of you out there. In the 1st instance, it would be great get to know individuals and perhaps communicate amongst ourselves, with view to assisting and supporting. This is not an invitation to create yet another "Somali Community", as I would assume(as in my case) you would be far to busy - but to create a network of ppl that can communicate, share ideas / information and tap into resources. I would hope to see a collaboration between those of us that can help each other and our community in the process. Needless to mention I'm not 'clan' orientated and discourage those of you that are from contacting me. We don’t need to add to the negativity that has assisted in destroying our land. Just like you I hardly meet my fellow Somali ppl. due to the demands of my work. Working in corporate America has taught me a lot and I will love to share my experience with others, especially those who are planning to join the corporate workforce. I can share some few tips on how to survive the cutthroat corporate politics. A little bit about me: I work with one of the Big five accounting firms, live in Toronto and have been employed for the 2 yrs. I am glad you came up with the Idea, I hope a lot of ppl will respond. | | Wednesday, November 08, 2000 - 07:38 pm Dear Sister : First i am very ecastatic that u have been able to open a forum in which like minded folks can exchange info/ideas/..etc. I am however a professional in the IT industry. I currently reside in Toronto just like the above brother, i suppose it is a blessing to have some briliant people in here. Once agian thanks and i will contribute to best of my ability...we definitely need to address some of the underlying issues particularly the ones that affect our community most.. It is time for the PROS to take charge...i am positive we will do a much better job than most of forums here....but we need to restrain from the kind of behaviour that has become the norm for alot of folks here. Let me remind you that we will get visits from all sorts of people...ie..Lunatics whose sole purpose of life is to insult anyone they deem intellegent or well-mannered. Since these demented people are inevitable to avoid...we can serve their purpose by not resorting to the their ultimate goal ..which is to turn this room into somewhat of an insulting battle field. We will simply ignore to respond any comment that we deem inappropraite . Finally since you(SISTER) have taken the initiative to open this forum, i would suggest that you set the rules and guide lines as to what agneda or topic....we oughta be talking about... Please do not be frightened by my nick...after all it is a combination of two words "DEVILS AND LOVE"...it has a long history...but to keep it brief....."DEVILS" is the name of my hockey team..NEW JERSEY DEVILS...and i love the team..that explains the latter part of my name....hope i am off the hook now.....

As for deciding the topic of conversation here, I haven't really thought about utilizing this space for discussions, it was more to generate a contact list of like minded individuals that are able to connect with view of that mentioned above.
