What is even more damning is they did so without a prior notice to their frequent visitors .
Warning though..let us not jump in the band wagon and blame them..for there could be a number of possible factors..their server might just be fine but there could be a Network issue or DNS(Domain Name Service) failure where by the site could not be routed or mapped to the correct IP address. It could also be that HTTP server went down and never was brought it up or the box(server) where their HTTP server is deployed went down.
Having said that ...I still believe that we owe an apology or at least some kind of briefing as to what had occured. In m view it is not only unprofessional to keep your visitors in the dark when it comes to the matter concerning the server being down and up...but it is also a true indicative of how little they care about their users.....
My understanding is that ...a brief message detailing the nature of the problem would have exonerated them from this embrassment.
On a final note...I request from the folks who run this place(Somalinet) to be more accountable of these kind of incidents as this site is the largest portal of SOMALI affairs in the entire WEB WORLD..at least as they claimed it to be.

Let me make one thing crystal clear...I do not have anything against SOMALINET...as matter of fact I am very appreciative of the kind of services they provide to our people..
I do not know if you are frequent visitor to this site...but the site was unaccessible for a period of roughly 24 hours...now we do not know what happen...and what the technical difficulty was..and all I was trying to do is help somalinet better communicate with its users and let them know that I and the ones like me were bit disappointed to say the least...I am positive they care about it...and willing to listen.
The way in which they can do this is totaly theirs to choose, as there are plenty of ways of doing this...I do not know how cyberly educated you are..but there is language or script if you will..called Javascript...which is usually embedded within HTML code..that can handle this situation more efficiently....similar to what you have seen EID if you have visited here...remember on EID day whenever you visit somalinet.com...you will see a pop-up window that will have text in it ...probably wishing people ...happy EID and stuff like that...Well similar technique could be employed to inform the users after the site is up of what has occured or what the difficulties were.....
My understanding is ...that these SOMALINET folks are much more educated on how to better handle this than most of us....maintaining a complex site like these calls for well-educated Web professional....
Finally I will reiterate it again....please do not make my comment anything other than...a user's feedback...which in turn will help Somalinet to better communicate with you & me.

as for unfairly accusing you of some thing, I don't think so, it is not my nature to do so, for I am natural in every way you look at it. For your information I have stated time & again that I have a lot of respect for you.
