After a full day of mayhem
The warlord
Commutes home
Kisses his third chubby wife
and doe-eyed children
And sits down to supper

On their plates are
Sleepless eyes
Electrocuted genitals
And oozing, bruised flesh
But nobody minds
no Somali minds

Tomorrow Uncle Zenawi and his Best Friends
Shaati gaduu, Morgan, Gabyow,
Abdulahi yusuf, Masale and Abdi Isaaq
Are sending a war Delegation
to Baydhabo
another Somali fiefdom will be carved
There will be smiles on the Ethiopian table
then the mutual signatures

Fiefdoms Will be created
Regions weak and feeble
Remotely controlled from Addis
after a decade
there will be one and only
greater Ethiopia

OH!! POOR SOMALIA
she is dead now

Listen, Brother Mooryaan,
time is near,
Time for us to feel and hear.
For too long, hidden from sight,
It's time now, step into the light.
Sons of fathers with pure Somali blood,
Hang not your head
Let no warlord fool you.
We're the cream Somalia gave;
It's ourselves now we must save.
We fought stupid war,
unjust and unholy
Only God knows what we did.
Hold low your head for those who died
Life for yours, yours to save.
Be not bitter, though it's hard.
Help a brother, a sister,
It’s a start.
Reach out with open hand,
Put down your AK47,
make your stand,
and say no more war.

If you are able
save for them a place
Inside of you….
And save one backward glance
when you are leaving
For the Places
They can no longer go…

Be not ashamed to say
you killed them
though you may or may not have
Always.
Take what they have taught
you with their dying
and keep it with your own…
And in that time
When Somalis decide to call this
war insane,
take one moment to embrace those
Gentle innocent souls
we killed mercilessly.
