Newyork city in January is not that suitable to visit if you are an outsider and plan to visit.The weather is the subjectivity causing the unsuitability.But the city is beautiful,its refined,architectural,busy,elagant,fashionable and intrigueng.If you are a resident: you have no choice,its your home and you can deal with everything except the Iranian Taxi drivers honking and shouting constantly.The best time to be in New York city would be in Spring,i love it,the new fresh air,the rainy sort of calm air,new green leaves growing unprecariously-it's jovial.You have to have a great job too.Working for myself for the past two years in the city has made me love the city even more;being the only psychologist in fifth avenue street has its own perks and bonuses.You get to walk to the next star bucks and get yourself a fresh Verona Coffee in those pretty little plastic coffee containers that blendishes your breath,and having exclusive right to patients in the entire area.It is very soothing if not exquisite.Also there is the Lady de Moeon boutique store,Tiffany clothe store,the great Northeastern Mall across my office window,it's LIFE!It's New York city! Monday morning,crowded outside my office building,as i made my way through.Wearing my top pink suit jacket and white/black-dots skirt matching my Jessica Lauren stripe shoes.In black and white ofcourse.Taking my usual route ofcouse,having stoped by the starbucks coffee place,pick my new Monday morning paper and walking my way,circumventing the dirty rain stagnant water on the road as i crossed walking into HighTech Tower building.The building i rented an office for the two years i worked there.Ofcourse greeting,Martin skoop-the security Guard.A heavy,probably 5'11, african american man in his 20's."Morning Martin,how are you this morning? I said to him."Morning Doc - i'm fine thank you.A little bit early today arent you?" Martin retorted.I smiled and glanced at my watch,and noticed it was 9:15 AM.He was right,i was early this morning.I usually get here at 9:45 AM."Yes Martin i am i guess.Maybe i have alot in my mind and i instictively woke up early,i have alot of work today."As i slide my building ID through the digitally installed security scanner.Meanwhile on Martins computer screen,popped the usual thing - information on the ID card swiped,it read.ID # 2087 :Female: Name:Basra Elmi.Height:5'9.Eyes: Brown. I took the elevator to the 97th floor and entered room..97-2b,walking past Khadija -my receptionist for a period of six months.She is a student at Northwestern University-a computer system analyst student.Khadija is relatively independent woman,in her early 20's..very out-going,and friendly.She does a great job -too,her friendlyness and good tempraments has enable her to get along with the patients i have.They are not the best people to get along with,let alone serve."Hi Doc-wow early today?Everything alright?"Khadija asked. Smilingly i answered with my eyes brows raised in puzzlement."I can't come early to my office?Is there a rule i am supposed to have read or something?Anyways yes i am early today,i woke up early today,so i thought maybe i should come to work early." Khadija looked at me,question mark reading on her face."Ok Doc whatever you say."Thereby i proceeded to enter my office and threw my brown leather brief case on my table and carefully placed my coffee on top of my files cabin.I took off my shoes and sat on my synthetically enhanced leather chair,carved in to support the backbone of your back.Its all about promoting safety,my friend Naiimo brought me from her last trip in Taiwan.Apparently its a technologically approved by the federal comsumer safety association (FCSA) to be a safe one of many office accessories. My office is a collection of my personality.There is from Lillth Painting of a girl walking a long way home to matching black leather sofa's -to cream walls,brown carpet floor,a flag of Somalia on the wall-situated on top of my office roof..with a colorful-colective paint of stars,half moon.I thought the warmth,environment will create comfrots for my patients.My table is unusually small,i chose that to bring enought room for office and avoid messing and piling pappers on it.On the lft is the leather sofa lying coach.Next to it is my Mahogany chair i use for my sessions. I was reading my a paper when the headline caught my attention.'CYBER ROMANCE TURNS DEADLY'.I thought...interesting,as i read half of the paragraph,the telecom beeped and Khadija's voice appeared."Hi Doc - your first patient is here.Miss Layla Abdi." I rapped up my paper quickly and made alittle tidy adjustments ."Bring me her files please Khadijah would you;and let her come in." I said softly while clearing up my throat from over sipping my hot Verona Coffee. Miss Layla is disturbed teenager,who is adidcted to internet among other adictions.She goes by the name Ghetogirl.She is a case of deliquent mischievious girl,with no adult supervision. "Oh come in Layla have a sit.How are you today?"I asked.I stood up shook her hands professionally and proceded to sit.I crossed my legs and observed her sit down -carefully.I wrote the date and patient's name on my yellow pad note book."How do i feel?How do i feel?I feel restless!I feel like running away from home!I feel like i can't stay away from the net.I feel like i am missing something.I want everything to be me,me me me me me.I need Help!"She shouted. I thought...oh lord...this is going to be a long day.

| | Monday, January 29, 2001 - 07:45 pm Since I am a New Yorker I wouldn't agree that NYC is a better place in the Summer....it really sucks. The metro stinks from unbearable train odor, too many crazy tourists, the blazing taxi honk coupled with the heat, the after work crowded trains with horrible smelling people. Just can't stand it in the Summer!!! Ghetogirl additionaly needs therapy for Somali(men)Phobia treatment besides her addiction to the Net.

Anyway i remember when i first came to America i landed in New York city.......and man was it a memory.........i came from dubai in the hottest July of 95......it was soooooooooo freakin' hot......and then when i landed in new york....it was raining.......i thought......huh....what a diff. place.............they warned me of all the thieves..........and my family knew i was so careless so they decided to let me carry the most important suit case that had all our documents.....our school transcripts and stuff.....most importantly my bro's High School Diploma.........haha...it got stolen......i hope the person who stole it benefits from it though....there was a quran and a sajaada in it!!!!! adios
