SomaliNet Forum (Archive): General Discusions: Archive (Before Feb. 16, 2001): I wonder if it is true or just an internet thing

In the city i live , i have not noticed this kind of hate between the boys and the girls.mostly they talk to each other politely and if u talk bad to a girl in public, u will hear it all over town what an ass u were last night.But in the net i have seen different, not even close. so is it that we can not tell each other how we feel in person and everyone hides his/her views in the real world ,or it is just an internet thing that we just entertian each other. i really want to know if this is a real problem in our society or just a pass time in the net thing. And please do not start calling names each other, just express what u think

Where I live, there aren't a lot of Somalis, but whenever we meet we are always cordial with each other. So I don't know....maybe it's just a couple of teenagers doing most of the insulting...I've never seen so many foul-mouthed messages before...I really don't know,I think alot of these people just want to shock you with their comments. It's a really powerful medium this internet thing, you keep your anonymity, yet whatever you say reaches so many people's homes.
