     | Tuesday, March 06, 2001 - 02:21 am I am a Somali girl and I was wondering- How come that you don't see succesful Somali on: the news, music channels, religious channels, or any other topic that requires KNOWLEDGE??? We need ppl from our ppl that we can look upto you know--the one big positive light in our country right now is CABDI QASIM SALAAD XASSAN (he's the president for those who didn't know *lol*) He is prepared to clean up the mess that somalis made--I think that he's the best person for the job!--he's got knowledge on a lot of different issues  All our Somali ppl care about is...TRADITION (which basically means : SONGS)...they think that they can sing--boy are they wrong!...the only one that cracks me up at the moment is Keinaan--finally someone with talent that we can relate to...I mean where are the rest of the songs about???--LOVE...don't make me laught--...I'm not even gonna go there! I don't even give a damn (sorry) about tradition--it means nothing...at the end of the day--all that matters is ISLAM! The sadest are those who have no expectation of life--no goals--just sittin' gossiping about each other--and ohh...collecting CEYR--I understands that a lot of ppl have no choice but to do so, but others (young) I see them "preparing" themselves to get it...how low is that??? I hope that you'll think about this and maybe you can explain--why we're like that? Love, Missy

Secondly i was wondering where u live because around my way i see young somali's whether it be men or women with ambition and the hunger to educate themselves and that makes me proud that there is my definition of success in order to archieve one success we have to set goals and work towards it... i know somalis who have a wide variety of careers as such as lawyers , doctors, engineers , software engineers , accountants ,stock brookers and so on. SO stick to yours goals sis and make something out of yourself and only u can archieve success.

Well first of all: to all the ppl who are doing something in their life--all the best to ya ...I hope you achieve what you want to achieve-- I'm 19 and I'm doing everything I can to achieve my goals (insha allah)...I'm studying Business and I am enjoying myself ...and hoping that this will bring some positivity to our ppl--by having something to look forward to, you know? There are a lot of ppl who are willing to pull you down for no reason or simply for the reason that they have nothin' going on in their lives... LOVE THE LADY WHO CARES-- I'm glad to hear that about you...we need ppl that we can look up and say...YOU KNOW THAT GIRL/GUY...SHE'S/HE'S A SOMALI...AND BE PROUD...right now we don't have that yet--but we will, right?-- ******POWER TO THE NEW GENERATION!********** TO ANONYMOUS: I'm glad to see ppl in your area striving hard to educate themselves ...that makes me feel good. What do I define as success?...success to me is; achieve something that you have working hard for...and not expecting everything from family/friends/governments...just independent...and being of some kind of use to our ppl and others.
