Mad Mac you've driven the majority of the population of this site really insane. So let's hear from an outsider(eventhough many are arguing that you are somali) of how you see the somali people in N.America(I guess that would exclude Canada, since you're USA resident)?Especifically how do somali men and woman carry themselfs when compare to any other men or woman from other Nationalities?
Point out the one thing (if there are > 1)then things that make you(MAD MAC) be attracted to these people(Somalis)?

Allright Doc, I'll give this one a try. But be advised I haven't lived in the States in four years, and then I was living at Ft Drum New York, not much of a Somali population there.

My sister lives in Toronto though (Married a Canadian) so based on what the Canadians have told me and based on what I've seen of Somalis in Germany I've made the following obervations:

We can divide Somalis into two basic groups, assimilators and non-assimilators. In general, Somalis are notoriously poor at assimilation. I think this is due to the fact that they often consider their own culture superior and therefore do not think they should have to - don't think it's wise to - adopt other cultures.

Somalis can be hard workers when they want to be, and tend to make shrewd businessmen (generic use here). But because they assimilate only in limited numbers and by limited measure they do not avail themselves of as many opportunities as would otherwise be the case.

Somalis do bring to their adopted homelands interesting culture and cuisine, but unfortunately some are hostile to strangers hence few gaal that I know have participated in anything that is Somali - and those vew I dragged to Somali parties which I had hosted (they had a great time incidentally).

My attraction (passion) for Somalia and Somalis has more to do with the intensity of my experience there and the fact that when I socialize with Somalize I garner a great deal of respect from them - in person, not on the net. Somalis respect the warrior culture and warriors much more than my own society does. Also, I find Somali culture and politics interesting, I love the food and I think the woman are fine.

Hope that answers your question.

BTW I am not Somali, but I guess you know that or you would not have written the post.

Glad to see you're back. I missed you too. What do you think of this new government, does it have a real shot? BTW if you host an Irish party I'll come if you invite me. Is there going to be Irish beer at your party? They have good beer.

Ahhhh, yeh, he's got some sort of syndrome or something.

It's a good thing you people are easier to get along with in real life than on the net or I'd have had to kill all of you back in 93.

interesting answer one would say, eventhough I doubt if any would agree with you. However one of your last comments, brings us to the next question. "I'd have had to kill all of you back in 93".
I want to you read this next comment carefully and see if you can relate to it, can you relate to it in the sense that maybe it is something, you also felt back in 93 while on duty.
"Why are we here? why are we trying to help people that are 1000 yrs. behind. We should get the F@# out of here and use this place for Nuclear Dumpster, why should we help people that cannot help themselfs. We are all itching to shoot any one of them, it don't make difference whether it is an old man or woman a child, I see them as scanvengers."
This comment was said by a canadian soldier, so was it the same case in the US camp, how did you guys precieve the people down there?

Ask 10 different guys how they felt and you'll get 10 different answers. I can only tell you how Mac felt.

I don't know where you were during the civil war, but I first got to Somalia 19 December 1992. I spent a couple of day in Mog and then went to Baledogle and Baidoa. What I saw there was tragic. Little kids dead on the side of the roads, not buried, others barely alive looking absolutely pathetic. I had a man come up to me begging for a job, any job, so he could feed his family of six. I had a very young woman offer me sex for 10 dollars or three packages of MREs. I gave her the money and the food - I wasn't interested in the sex. Anyone who could not feel compassion for the victims there was beyond feeling it anywhere.
Now, as for the Mooryan, when we killed any of them I couldn't care less. And when we started getting into it with the Haber Gedir in Mid-summer 93, I didn't feel much about fighting them either. They attacked us first and they did it due to the political ambitions of one man. It's really that simple.
Somalis are not 1,000 years behind. Theree are plenty of Somalis who are quite intelligent. They have a political and social history that has left them vulnerable to what happened. For ever mooryan there's 100 good people. As for the Haber Gedir, they wee used by their political leadership-especially Aideed who knew just which buttons to push. While I know some of them would love to kill MAC, I no longer bear them any grudge.

MAD MAC MUST be one of a number of 'armed to the teeth' uninitiated Americans, who, one afternoon in Mog, escaped CERTAIN DEATH because they barricaded themselves using Somali women and children as shields.

All Somali ppl are eternally grateful to the Moryaan for rendering stillborn, the idea that Somalia could provide for Washington a guinea pig to test the search for a 'common, uplifting purpose' similar to the fight against the Soviets, to be used to assert America's international leadership against potential rivals within the Western Alliance. Alxamdulillaah, in '91-'93 all Somali people were smart enough to distinguish a genuine a humanitarian mission from a new colonialism mission cloaked as a humanitarian mission!

In short, it is because of Aideed's Moryaan (and I shudder at this thought) that MAD MAC is NOT the American Colonial Governor of Baidoa Region.

i faithfully disagree with poisonous, my intelect forbids me to name any one group. on the other hand what happened in somali will all always be with us (somalis), iam not saying it was very good sight but when recalling such events consider this: some of us are trying very hard to forged and look into the future, there are lots of things i wish would never have happened, America should never have set foot in somalia, the civil war should never have happened, and i wish siyad you have given up before it was too late, i wished no body died, but one can never change past. so please doctor stop asking and mad censor your comments. it is enough that i cant watch cnn

Ahhhhhh, I'm not sure what you mean doc. Are you saying you wish America never sent troops to Somalia and let another half million people die? Or are you saying you wish circumstances hadn't compelled it.
