Is it possible that they've forgotten their religion/ and culture, or are they ignoring it? Say , Are we blaming this western society, or the parents who are not doing there job properly? Or should we blam the shatan because he is the one that is leading them to do sinfull things. Or finaly, Should we take the blame because is our fault for not following or practising our religion? Who do you blame and why? And what should we do about it? wasalam
yasmiina	Tuesday, February 06, 2001 - 03:13 am every parent is responsible for his/her children. we can not deny the influence that the society will have on our children but parents can minimize that by talking to their children and listening to them. somali kids are facing major problems in the western countries and we can not assume that they can tell right from wrong without recieving input from their parents.
CARAMEL	Tuesday, February 06, 2001 - 04:47 am BLAME IT ON THE CULTURE SIS. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SOCIETY. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE BORN OUTSIDE SOMALI AND ARE MORE MUSLIM AND RESPECTFUL THEN THE ONCE WHO JUST CAME. AS YASMIN SAID, PARENTS PLAY A BIG ROLE IN IT TOO. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SOMALI PARENTS TALKING TO THEIR KIDS? LISTENING TO THEM? NOT JUDGING THEM? BEING THERE FOR THEM?(NOT FOR THE WELFARE CHECK). YOU DON'T THEY ASSUMED SINCE THEY HAD A BAD CHILDHOOD THEIR KIDS DON'T DESERVE THE BEST IN LIFE. SOME KIDS NEVER BEEN TO AMUSMENT PARK, OR NEVER HAD A DINNER WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY TOGETHER (INCLUDING THE FATHER). IF THEY DO SOMETHING GOOD THEY NEVER GET REWARDED. SOME NEVER COME EVEN OUTSIDE THE HOUSE (IF THEY ARE 2 YEARS TO 5). OFCOURSE THEN WHEN THEY START SCHOOL, AND SEE HOW THE OTHER KIDS PARENTS ARE OR HOW THEY GET THINGS ETC THEY WILL GO TO THE OTHER SIDE. THE MONEY THAT THE GOVERNMENT GIVES YOU IS NOT FOR YOUR GOLD OR DIRAC. IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN. SOMALIAN REALLY NEED A PARENTING COURSE I SWEAR TO ALLAH. IT'S START IN THE HOME. IF THE HOME GIVES GOOD KNOWLEDGE AND GOOD ENVIRONMENT THE KIDS WILL TURN UP TO BE WELL ESTABLISHED PEOPLE. ALSO THERE SHOULD BE MORE TEEN COUNSELING FOR OUR COMMUNITY ETC, TO HELP OUR YOUTH. THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY.
