X | Unrecorded Date After a rough week at work a friend of mine sent me an email that touched me deeply, I would like to share it with you all. so here it goes... (I’m not big on cut and paste, but I couldn’t resist) ------------------ To Whom It May Concern: I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of a 6 year old again. I want to go to a fast food place, and think that it's a four-star restaurant. I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make ripples with rocks. I want to think that small candies are better than money, because you can eat them. I want to play kickball during recess and paint with watercolors in art. I want to lie under a big Oak tree and watch the ants march up its trunk. I want to run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day. I want to think a quarter is worth more than a dollar bill 'cause it's prettier and weighs more. I want to go fishing and care more about catching the minnows along the shore than the big bass in the lake. I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all I knew were colors, addition tables, and nursery rhymes. When I didn't know what I know now. I want to believe that the world is fair. I want to believe that everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again. I want to naively think that everyone else is happy because I'm happy. I want to again be able to walk on the beach and only think of the sand between my toes, and the prettiest seashell I can find. I would again like to spend my afternoons climbing trees and riding my bike. I wouldn't worry about time, bills, or where I was going to find the money to fix my car. I would wonder what I would do or be when I grew up, not worry about what I'll do if this doesn't work out. I want to live simple.....yeah.....simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and the loss of loved ones. I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, dreams, peace, justice, love, the imagination, mankind, the Tooth Fairy, a kiss that makes a boo boo go away, and that my parents are the strongest and smartest people in the world. I want to be 6 again. So...here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit cards and the bills too, my 401K statements, my stocks & bonds, my collections, my insurance premiums, my job, my house and the payments too, my e-mail address, pager, cell phone, computer, and watch. And if you want to discuss this with me further ……………………………………………………. you'll have to catch me first 'cause.....TAG YOU ARE IT…. That's all- X |
CONCERNED BROTHER | Unrecorded Date X YOU'RE AN OLD WOMAN WHO THINKS LIKE 16 YEARS OLD LITTLE GIRL. I DON'T UNDERESTAND WHY YOU COMPLAIN TOO MUCH? Observer | Unrecorded Date It is amazing to me that "concerned brother" is only concerned about women issues. I remeber seeing him post at the "Albion Chicks" page ; "Love and the Internet" page etc. I wonder why he is never concerned about the garbage and stupidity posted across this forum by men that discuss issues ranging from female gentalia to adultery. Could it be that he has eyes only for certain people? Is it that he excessively fantasizes about the posts he is sooooooooooo "concerned" about? Concerned brother for a change be concerned about the brothers too. |
X | Unrecorded Date Concerned-brother; Have you thought that maybe I'm so good at what I do that I don't need to put that much effort into it. Have you ever heard about working smarter not harder. it's funny that you know everything I have written. I believe you are a fan. Observer- good observation, but I get the feeling you think what I posted was sort of silly. It was just a touching piece, not rocket science. X |
Anon | Unrecorded Date To X To Miss X since you work smarter not harder why do you want to be a six yrs old again . Sweaty I don't think what it takes to be the woman you claimed to be. |
Caraweelo | Unrecorded Date Dear X; I loved the piece you posted. I wonder why they don't get it. It is a lament to simply times. I wish I could. Maybe if the "concerned person" had achieved something in his life, he would have appreciated the lament! |

Yx | Unrecorded Date Hi X & everyone; Is that a true story X? I believe so but I don't think your friend was a Somalian person, because vast majority of Somalians don't like rounding the clock that back. And in Somali tradition going back to childhood isn't only deprival of responsibility, but it is also being cursed with. Personally, I see it as a great story to tell and it has a universal relativity, but does it relate to you X? this ? is only if you don't mind. Take care and DO NOT upset your "concerned brothers" please who are your valuabe fans.. haa...haa..LOL Yx |
majordome | Unrecorded Date Salmiz, Do' success' and lamentation gang together? I think not. Why does X need to post a private message if she doesn't think it will excite the interest of the readers. Where has the claims of objectivity, linear thinking, getting'jobs' or rather B.L.U kind-of-jobs done gone? That emetic posting paints the picture of a retarded individual who needs, desperately needs, someone to take her to the ZOO everyday..Works smater, not harder & idle mind, what? a devil's workshop. peace. |
M&M | Unrecorded Date Hi X, I enjoyed reading it sister. Thanks for sharring it with us. Life's a challenge, I wouldn't mind staying a kid forever LOL. I'd give anything just to have something/someone to lift the adult responsibilities off my shoulders. |
Cynical | Unrecorded Date Hey Majordome, please don't chew my head off, this was passed on to me, so I am simply passing it on........... I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back. I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. I've learned that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts. I've learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something. I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do. I've learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. I've learned that you can keep going long after you can't. I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you. I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place. I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences. I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score. I've learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time. I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up. I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel. I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love. I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated. I've learned that you should never tell a child>=20 their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it. I've learned that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological. I've learned that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you are to learn to forgive yourself. I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief. I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become. I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do. I've learned that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever. I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. I've learned that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process. I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help. I've learned that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being. I've learned that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon. I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe. |
Alex | Unrecorded Date Cynical you have passed on to us a good poem. Thank you. |
