THE"KOROW" MONKEY AND THE SOMALI PRESIDENT.

The so called president-elect of somalia was going to the United
Nations and his clan elders advised him not to go empty handed but to take a token of Somalia to the officials he will meet.

Some suggested he take spears ,bows and arrows. " No" one elder said " these are tools of war".

" If you are looking for something symbolic, the " Korow" monkey which is unique to this country will be to the point".an octogerian suggested. " Beautifull" the president said and it was accepted with an applause.

So the president took this beautiful , cute little monkey and handed over (to the United Nations under-secretary who received him )as gift to Mr Kofi Anan." I know Mr.Anan, being an African and all ,has seen plenty of monkeys in his life time " the president emphasized " but this one is one of the smallest in the world and found only in Somalia.

Three days later on his way back to Somalia the President received a phone call from a furious Official of the U.N. "Mr.Abdiqasim the secretary general would like to speak to you".
"Well, thanks for the extraordinary gift " the Secretary General begun " but we cant just cope with him. He keeps passes at our female workers. Throws files around. sends lifts up and down ".
" we decided to either hand it over to your embasyy or donate it to a zoo" Mr Anan said.

" That wont be necessary " Abdiqasim retorted " could you please just hand over the phone to the monkey". He murmured something on the handset and the Korow behaved well and followed orders after that.

Mr. kept wondering what the so called president told the monkey and two weeks later he called Mr. Abdulqasim in Mogadishu." well, Mr Salad thanks for the help...the Monkey is acting like a perfect gentleman. But if you dont mind my curiousity , sir, could you tell me the magic words you said to the " Korow"?

" Nothing much " replied Abdiqasim " I told him that if he does,nt behave , I will bring him back to Mogadishu".

" He wants that city to be the site of the so called new Government !" Mr. Anan wondered loudly.
