Pakistan: Four brothers hanged for killing 3 uncles, 13 family members Tue. April 17, 2007 12:45 pm.- By Zainab Osman. - (SomaliNet) Four brothers were hanged in a prison in eastern Pakistan's Punjab province on Tuesday on the charges of killing their three uncles and 13 members of their family, officials said. The four brothers were accused on killing three uncles and 13 members of their family over land dispute in April 1999, according to the private News Network International news agency. A district judge had handed down death penalty to them in January 2002. There had been no one left in the slain family to pursue the case in court and an elder of the area had registered a case against them. A girl baby of one-and-half year reportedly was among those killed. The accused had filed appeals in the Lahore High Court against the judgment but the court had rejected their plea in February 2005. The Pakistani President had also rejected their mercy petition in December 2006. Fifteen family members of the accused had last meeting with accused on Monday.
