European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, Mr. Louis Michel said his organization allocated more than €10 million about U$ $11.7 million to help Somalia's transitional government improve security in the country. Additional €49 million - U$57.3 million is also ready for national reconstruction and development.

Mr. Michel said the European Union will open a new office in Jowhar, Somali government’s temporary headquarters after meeting with Prime Minister Mr. Ali Mohamed Gedi who is in Brussels for talks with EU’s officials.

Other organizations like African Union, East African Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Arab League, and the United Nations are also playing active roles in Somalia’s road to recovery.
