(SomaliNet) Forces of Islamic Courts that recently took control of Kismayo city on Monday have set blaze to seven bags of the most popular leafs of Khat imported from the neighboring country of Kenya in public overnight.
The Khat traders were too sorry for the action in which the Islamists burnt the Khat leafs that worth of hard currency and they condemned the Islamic authorities in Kismayo for not given them even a warning of their Khat trade.
However, the Islamists denied the accusation
Earlier, Islamic Courts issued a decree of total banning on trade of Khat in the city calling it illegal trade to the country.
The dwellers in Kismayo city south of Somalia, particular Khat dealers and chewers got so annoyed the decision by the Islamic Court that prohibited the sale and trade of Khat leafs.
Some clearly says they will oppose the Islamic Courts if they don’t back out such decision but the Islamists in Kismnayo city described the banning of Khat leafs as a step take towards tightening security.
