Mohamed Abdi Farah

(SomaliNet) Minister of defense in the transitional federal government Bare Aden Shire Hirale and other members in the parliament and Juba Valley Coalition left on Monday for Baidoa city, the seat of the interim government.

Before leaving Bardere town in Gedo region, Mr. Hirale met with army commanders of JVA over how to strengthen the defense line of the town against any possible attack from Islamists.

He is expected to brief government officials in Baidoa about the latest developments in the Gedo region, which borders with Kenya, one of local business people told Somalinet.

His return to Baidoa came after his militia was defeated in the battle around Bu'ale city, capital of middle Juba region by Islamic Courts.

JVA spokesman said the trip of the defense minister to Baidoa was related to perform his national duty.

He denied that Mr. Bare sought weapons and ammunitions from the government in Baidoa city, the capital of Bay region in southwest Somalia
