Somalia: Islamists lost Dinsor and Bur-Hakaba towns as Ethiopia advances

(SomaliNet) Islamic Courts Union in Somalia has lost on Tuesday another key towns in southwest of the country after heavy clashes with the Ethiopian troops along with the interim government forces.

Witnesses in Bur-Hakaba town, 190 km (118 miles) southwest of the capital say that the ICU had abandoned the town last midnight and moved towards Mogadishu as heavily armed Ethiopian troops have taken control of Bur-Hakaba, a strategic town near to Baidoa city, the seat of the transitional federal government.

“Our fighters have retreated from Bur-Hakaba for military tactics,” Sheik Mohamud Ibrahim Suley, Islamic Courts Union spokesman in Mogadishu told this morning the local media.

The ICU forces also deserted Dinsor, a strategic town in Bay region and one of the main Islamist strongholds in southwest of Somalia as heavily armed Ethiopian troops nears the town.

Unconfirmed reports say that Dinsor has also fallen in the hands of the government troops backed by the Ethiopian forces.

In Jowhar town, 90 km north of the capital people started to worry about the advancing Ethiopian forces backed by tanks and airplanes towards Jowhar, the capital provincial.

Other developments say that the Ethiopian troops have taken control of Adado town in central Somalia where the Islamist militia deserted after facing bitter fighting.

It the fifth town, which the Islamic Courts Union lost in the clashes with the Ethiopian, forces in Somalia a week ago.
