Mohamed Abdi Farah
(SomaliNet) Somalia Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Gedi has attended an occasion of nominating court judges and commissioners of Banadir districts who were sworn at the regional headquarter in the capital Mogadishu.
Addressing the occasion, which was also participated by dignitaries and government officials, Mr. Gedi said the formation of the judiciary system would facilitate the services performed by the police forces.
It is the first nomination made by the empowered interim government since it took control of the capital last week with the help of the Ethiopian forces that won to oust the Islamic Courts.
“Fairly soon, the police stations in Mogadishu will be operational and justice will work properly as I am sure that people need judgment,” Gedi said. “If a suspect is arrested, the police will have the access to put the criminal on trial soon”,
Gedi described the occasion as an important event, urging the officials who were sworn on Thursday, to act responsibly and serve their nation in a just way.
Gedi also said that law is greater than any one else pointing out that even the government officials will not be allowed for wrongdoing.
He urged Somali people to stand with the judiciary and police that will operate soon.
