Somalia: Insurgents defeated Thu. April 26, 2007 07:26 am.- By Mohamed Abdi Farah. - (SomaliNet) At least 22 people mostly local insurgents died and dozens more were wounded in several hours of heavy clashes which raged in Somalia capital Mogadishu on Thursday. The killed insurgents were seen on the ground in battle area, north of the capital where the Ethiopian forces backed by dozens of tanks stormed. Unconfirmed sources say that several Ethiopian soldiers were also killed in the fighting. In the latest gun battle, the Ethiopian forces captured the insurgent’s biggest stronghold of former pasta factory in north of the capital. There is still fighting going in north of Mogadishu where the Islamist remnants and the Ethiopians are facing off and exchanging heavy weaponry.
